Well, we got about a half a new issue. The other half was what happened at the end of WW 219 and OMAC #4. A quarter of it with filled in moments after Superman and WW went their separate ways after she offed Max.

Yet the last quarter of the issue is actually "new" stuff. The argument that Batman and Superman have in the cave is interesting to me. Their harsh words towards eachother make it seem something is actually happening.

"The problem with not trusting anyone..." That line for me was great.

Batman saying, "You're the most powerful person on Earth! You don't get the luxury of that excuse!" seems...like it tears in Clark. We'll know in time, if what I think is true.

Though I hope that WW conversation and hour before "Superman" got their is covered in WW 220 next week. I wanna know what she said.

Anyways, good stuff IMO. For the quarter of a new issue we got.

Ahhh another rehash issue?

I actually haven't gotten it yet. So I don't know how I feel about it. I usually don't like rehashing.

Probably will pick it up on saturday.

Well... I'd say DC's doing a good job of reinvigorating the old Superman fans vs. Batman fans conflict among geekdom.

Because as primarily a Superman fan, I wanted to slap Bruce this issue.

Like these guys haven't been to hell and back together -- and saved each others' asses umpteen million times over.

Look, if I was Bruce I'd be pissed about getting roughed-up by Clark too. But it's not like Clark is sloppy with himself or acts nonchalantly about his awesome power. Hell, wasn't it Clark who gave Bruce the Kryptonite way back in case of something like this?

Other than getting his hair tussled a little (which he is obviously physically accustomed to), Bats has no real reason to be such a dick to a guy who is arguably humanity's greatest protector and champion.

Oh wait... he does have reason. He's Bat-prick.

I think pretty much everything leading up to Infinite Crisis can only be accepted if you accept that the old DCU was shifted into a different timeline by the actions of the Futuresmiths.

This is functionally already a new continuity where the motivations of the characters we knew are all-new, all-different, which is why things like logic and extrapolations from past behaviour are of little use. Thus Max Lord becomes a psycho nutjob, Wonder Woman bawls out for Sue Dibney, Leslie Thompson murders a young girl under her care etc., etc.

I suspect Geoff Johns will have a little throw-away line alluding to something like this during Infinite Crisis in order to placate anyone who feels certain characters have been acting out of character since this whole thing got started. Since time is out of wack, various timelines and temporal what-have-yous have been messing with the very histories and personalities of our beloved heroes, making them act differently than they used to.

...or something like that...

Sort of like what was going on in JLA/AVENGERS.

So, we can blame it all on Wanda.

Or a Yellow Fear Monster....or its a White Martian or whatever other cosmic do-hicky suits your fancy and allows you to enjoy the comics you read. These are superhero comics, anything can happen. Use your imagination.

Um yeah I thought there would be more of an actual "fallout" from WW 219. Like, maybe, all three of them actually talking to each other? And I thought this was an extra sized issue but it ended up just being a Bionicle insert...
