This is why I like DC comics - while all the Crisis stuff is going on, comes this book out of left field. Ellis is in good form writing - the art I'm not entirely sold on but the way the story is told has me interested enough to last the entire 4 issue arc.
I think a better logo could also be used for the comic. Right now it looks somewhat plain/ kinda retro-ish (not in a good way) compared to all the other titles out there.

It was a good first ish I think out of four right?
The interrogation scene was a classic...Ellis always makes it seem like you're watching a good movie everytime he writes...conspiracies within agencies of the government and exploding fingers? I'm on board...

Great stuff. The interrogation scene was wonderfully brutal and twisted.
The art was clear and effective, I suppose, although I thought it a bit flat.
Very interesting - I wonder why it's set in the DCU?
Seems like it would've made more of a mark at Vertigo or Wildstorm.
Anyway, cool 1st issue.

I think it's an ongoing, but the first arc is 4 issues long.

How could you people not like the art I thought it was breathtaking. Anyway I’m sure sales will determined if Jack has a future past the fourth issue although I always think it’s a mistake for new series to open up with a story arc. It killed a number of books in the past.

Brilliant first issue; w/ this, Desolation Jones, Iron Man, JLA: Classified, and the upcoming Fell and Down, Ellis truly is on a roll.

Yes, the Ellis that wrote both this and Desolation Jones is the Ellis I wish we would see more of. He's in high gear on both books.
I think Jack Cross is an ongoing with this first arc being four issues. I can't imagine it not succeeding. This was really good and I'm eagerly awaiting more.
I will say that there were panels where Erskine's art came across as kind of wooden and static. It mostly worked well though.
Hitman was in the DCU proper. Just because Jack isn't clad in spandex doesn't mean he couldn't mix it up with the DEO or Amanda Waller, though I hope it would be kept to a minimum.

I really liked it too, and I picked it up only on whim after hearing some off-hand good reviews. What really hooked me though was the last page with Jack in the bathroom. That silent, character-building hint showed me that this series won't be a basic hard-ass super spy kind of story, but something with more brains and heart.

The background art was great.. The characters not quite as great. But still good.
I just didn't really get that first scene with the building blowing?? What did I miss. I may have to give it another look over---- it was pretty late when I read it. Otherwise it was enjoyable. Ellis tends to get better as the issues go up in numbers, not worse. So we'll see.

Promising start to the series, though I too am puzzled to see this being published as a DC book. I'd be a bit more optimistic about the book's long-term survival if it was published under the Vertigo banner.
I'm rather surprised to see the book's portrayal of America's intelligence agencies at war with each other hasn't kicked up much in the way of controversy.
I just didn't really get that first scene with the building blowing?? What did I miss.Wasn't that the four Homeland Security agents stealing the nuclear device, then destroying evidence of their being there?

I like this alot also--solid work!
but I am assuming this doesn't take place in the 'real dc' universe---i.e. no supes?

Okay, yeah.. But the building scene is something else, it comes after the parking lot ordeal in timing.. Four other agents are making a second(well, first for them) attempt on the device , i'm guessing.
The scene in the parking lot was where our man getting the Cross treatment, double crossed.. You know what? I just realized I don't even care right now ! I'll find out what's going on in a few issues, I think.
This artist isn't so good with drawing people...
