I've been gone for a while, and I come back & hear this is the case for after IC, save for maybe a couple of high numbering titles like Action & Detective. Has this actually been announced?

Been there, done that, called it Zero Hour... You know, funny thing, even tho companies are always rebooting series, I still feel like it'd be weird to have 2 issue #0's of a given series.

Action Comics #0 number 2... that does sound really weird :)

A few series are rumoured, or confirmed, to be restarting, or more likely being replaced with new titles (Legends of the Dark Knight becomes Batman Confidential, for example), but most will likely soldier on.

If they did I think the 3 guaranteed safe bets are Action comics, Detective Comics and Batman.
Adventures of Superman and Wonder Woman might also be safe.
But I don't think they will.

Adventures is safe, but I think WW will be getting a relaunch

To be fair, Zero Hour didn't really restart the numbering on lots of old series. It just sort of suspended it for a month in favor of slapping a big fat Zero on everything published in that single month, so that if you were collecting a certain old title, you ended up having it lined up like this in your collection: #112, #113, #0, #114, #115, etc., in that order. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it? :)
And those new series that were scheduled to start that fall got to put a Zero on the first issue instead of the traditional #1. I remember because I'd been looking forward to Starman #0 from James Robinson, after reading his Golden Age Elseworlds miniseries that introduced me to his writing.

IN the most recent Comic Shop News it states
"With 'One Year Later', each and every character has a starting point and moves off at a pace of its own. You will see a wide mix of new series, rebooted series, and continuing series and unfortuantely, cancelled series. All the changes will make sense for the character and for their own story. About the only series that are guaranteed to be immune from a
new-number-one reboot are such venerable titles as
ACTION, DETECTIVE, SUPERMAN, BATMAN , or other titles with sumilarity long rongs"

If they reboot Flash and Wonder Woman , I'm gonna be one pissed off fan. This "Number trick" has been done to death by Marvel.

DC did it as well following the original Crisis.
Oh, and in the Silver Age such as when they had Flash (Barry's title) continue the numbering of Jay's Golden Age title.

Yeah I know. But both books are ok with thier numbers. Ok I can understand rebootin Flash due to Johns hugely popular run to give a new creative team a chance. But Rucka's Wonder Woman ? No way!
And Marvel's taken DC's idea and ran it smack into the ground. By now no one really knows what number Captain America is on or what number Iron Man is on eithor.
Marvel should restore the old numbering and maybe I';ll get Captain America....

Rich Johnston said Wonder Woman is getting a new #1. He is usually pretty accurate with his rumors.

the hell is a "long rong" and do I even wanna know? Hey, why don't they re-relaunch Legion again? :D If they start Wonder Woman over again I'd love to see Donna take over as Wonder Woman just cuz I luv her sooooo much...*heart*. Just wish they'd get rid of that stupid ass Titan god crap(BTW, A Titan IS a god, so callin' them 'Titan-gods' is redundant).

From Dictionary.com:

\Rong\, obs. imp. & p. p. of Ring.
So it's a long of ring. Get it? :D

Aren't The Flash and Wonder Woman the only surviving series from the 80s?

Flash is still going to continue the post-CoiE numbering after Geoff's run ends with #225. We then get #226. So it's not like they are starting over right now.
Rucka's Wonder Woman? Well, who knows at this point.
I'd say Captain America's relaunchs were probably the worst.
You had his original title, his silver age title (formerly another title, I believe but can't remember which), his heroes reborn title, his heroes return title, his Marvel Knights title (Wolverine was also relaunched as part of the Marvel Knights line) and finally, his current title.
Yeah, that's pretty bad. But the title is so very good right now.
But that's the thing. Numbers are not indicative of quality and are more or less cheap marketing gimmicks. Back in the day, titles needed to have high numbers to give them a certain weight.
"No, no, Flash has been around a long time. See?"
These days, it's pretty much the opposite. Well, except for titles like Action Comics, Detective Comics, etc. DC's proud that these titles have been around so long and would never dare to relaunch them.

God I hope not.
Well, some I can see. But I hope Flash and Wonder Woman aren't as well as the automatically exempt ones.

Even if they renumber everthing they can always change their minds at a later date like Marvel did with most of thier books so relax.
