Did anyone else grab this? My comic shop just got it in this past week and I snagged it as soon as I saw it on the shelf.
Chadwick is the man!

I've always wodered whether Concrete would be worth checking out. When I saw this short story collection I thought about it a bit more seriously. Is Concrete like anything else out there? What kind of fan do you think would get into this book? Is it necessary to have read the other books to get into this one?

This collection is a good starting point for a new reader, but be warned that it isn't typical super hero stuff. Chadwick uses the book to explore the human condition and our effect on the world around us.

In order: No. An open-minded reader who appreciates an intelligent and subtle story. Probably not; I don't know what's in this book, but Concrete is not very continuity-heavy.

Well, once Aaron says it, y'know, perfectly, what the heck am I supposed to say? :)
I just took a look at DH's site. This new series seems to be reprinting the material roughly in order, so starting here will be perfect for new readers. Certainly more convenient than when I have to dig out back issues.

I picked up a Concrete mini-series in my store's back-issue bins and it was really good. I can't remember the name of it, the one where Concrete's friend gets kidnapped while at the gas station by some psycho. Concrete and the cops chase him down. Good stuff, really examined the mentality of what it would be like to be in that situation.
I guess I'm just a little unclear of what's out there, where what is collected... basically I'm clueless. I remember reading that there was a Complete Concrete hardcover or something, but obviously there has been newer stuff since then. So how 'complete' is it? That recent digest-sized collection had stuff that had previously not been reprinted, so the Complete can't be that... complete.
Is there a Concrete website?
(I realize I could probably find most of this out with some on-line researching, but I'm hoping some more Concret discussion could come from it.)

This one (http://www.weisshahn.de/concrete/index2.htm) is pretty good. It hasn't been updated for these new trades yet, but it tells you everything that's out there until now.

Killer Smile. That's the one I have.
Thanks for the site!
