All,
I bought all the Starman trades I could get, which was TPB #1, #2, and #5 through #10. My local comic shop told me that trades #3 and #4 are out of print. I read TPB #1 and #2 and loved them. I want to go ahead and continue with #5.
I was hoping that people could spoil me on the events of significance in Starman TPB #3 and #4. Just stuff like "Jack fought so and so, and learned this or that" and that kind of thing. I just want to be able to read #5 and beyond without wondering what is going on.
Thanks,
Lewis

Wish I knew, but I have it all in single issues and I don't know which ones make up the trades (pluse I'm not even good at remembering stories by issue numbers). Sounds pretty lame that they're not in print - the entire series should be perennially available. Hope you get a chance to pick them up sometime soon, in any case.
You can buy #4 on Amazon, and you can buy #3 used on Amazon. I would recommend trying Ebay, but I just searched for "starman wicked" and found no results at all. You may want to call around to some other comic stores nearby or try calling various book stores.
As a huge Starman fan, I just couldn't spoil what happens in #3. It's just too entertaining and (can I say it?) beautiful. No matter how long it takes you to track down the issues and read it for yourself, it will be worth it, I promise you. I believe that this trade paperback collects #17, #19-27. See if you can track down the single issues.

Aw come on, spoil me. :) Seriously, I can handle it. :) I'm one of those guys who prefers to know the whole plot in advance anyway!
Well, I took your advice and bought TPB #3 and #4 from Amazon.
Still, go ahead and spoil me. Its cool. :)

I'm pretty sure that isnt true. :) It isnt mentioned in TPBs 5-7 or 10, which I have read, nor is that mentioned in TPB 4 which arrived yesterday (Tuesday).
I can't wait until I get #3, it should be late this week or early next.

Do the Starman trades not collect all the comics? I was looking at my LCS today and I was going to get the first trade. However, I was flipping threw the other and I saw that one collected #18, #28, an annual and something else. Is this a series where I'll have to hunt down monthly issues to get a complete run?
Way Fresh,
Yes and no. About 90% of the series is collected. DC collected the separate "Times Past" issues apart from the issues that have a direct sequential bearing on the story. The TPB with all those seemingly random stories were just odds and ends from specials and annuals in addition to the Times Past stories that were published to a certain point. Times Past stories are stories set in different eras with different Starmen or different characters which help to better explain things happening in the present day. Unfortunately, DC should still publish another large volume of these stories, but more than likely considers the matter closed since they have published all of the truly essential issues.
Long story short: You could buy all the TPB's and get the whole story, and you honestly would not miss all that much. Then figure out the "holes" that represent the Times Past issues and hunt those down.
Hope that helps.

That does help. Thanks. I think I'll add that to my list of serises to check out since it's basically complete. I just wanted to make sure the collections were all "best of" type stuff and random.
