First, I did the opposite of the limbo thread. Now this. Oh well, but what characters, concepts, etc. in X-Men do you feel are overrated?

Which do YOU think are overrated (Rule #5)? And overrated in what way? Powers? Placement on a team? Etc.

Oooh. Sorry if I broke a rule (where can they be found btw).
I think the concept of including death as a way to bring in readers is overrated. Way too convenient and ends up coming off as cheap much of the time.
As a character, I think the Summers/Grey clan is overrated. I don't dislike them, but there constant presence seems unnecesary IMO. I think we can do without Scott and Alex's leadership, Nate, Nate, and Rachel's time mix ups, and Jean's numerous trips to death and back, with her cosmic power levels and out of controlness.

Wolverine usage....I don't wanna see him anymore....

Emma Frost. I am sick of her dialogue. It was fresh at one point, now the one liners are just getting old. She's become a caricature not a character. And she appears EVERYWHERE.
X-23.

Wolverine is over-exposed, but not always overrated. For being the best at what he does, he seems to get his butt kicked on a regular basis.
Emma is overrated in my eyes, since there's enough that the X-men should be cautious about that they just accept. She's never been shown as a great field leader (planner, plotter, schemer, yes, but thinking on her feet- well, there's a reason the X-folks always triumphed over Hellfire in the end) and yet she's co-leader of Astonishing, and usurps the authority of a proven leader. Wolverine and Shadowcat are both better, tactics-wise. She is also over-exposed right now.
I've always felt that the character of Gambit is overrated. Given his past, is there any reason to expect he'd be able to go toe to toe with Wolverine? He's got an interesting power, but beyond that, I've never been able to see the attraction

Wolverine (sure, he's a great character, but with his over-exposure, I cant take him seriously anymore.

pretty much everything that's great gets overrated by some freaks who think its the second coming. overrated has little to do with quality, why would anyone care how everyone else is rating something?
uncanny is overrated, since people are really eating it up and there's literally no story there imo.
but astonishing is a bit overrated too, by some people.
i feel retarded even making this observation. let's discuss what other people think about politics too....

Emma Frost.
Magneto's constant reviving from an apparent death.
See above, replace Jean with Magneto.
Rogue and Gambit's relationship.

astonishing x-men. i like it but its not as great as people claim it to be. my biggest concern is the dialogue. i hate it when the writer gets lazy and it takes me 5mins to read a 2.99 comic

those panels with no dialogue are filled with depth, take your time to appreciate it. this isn't laziness on the writer's part. show don't tell etc

Angst as the primary method of characterisation. Yes, grief and guilt are a part of life, but so is joy. Marvel never shows enough of the latter.
House of M. Stop relying on gimmicks to sell your comics; start improving the quality of your writing and the consistency of your line.
Deaths that don't count because of the inevitable resurrections. If fans know that important events can simply be undone, how are they supposed to care?
Wolverine. Marvel had Wolverine Month. 'Nuff said.

Emma. During Generation X she actually ahd some depth and character development. Now she's just generic badgirl #7845. She doesn't fit in at all.
X-23. Wolverine-girl. What is this, DC all the sudden? We already have Wolverien, we don't need the teenage copy.

I agree with the whole Wolverine thing, how many books is he currently in?
Also the whole X line books there are way to many of them and they don't seem to interact with each other either not very much or at all.
They X books are overated they have not been good for a long time, uncanny since 240 or so.

I think Astonishing and Uncanny are overrated. They both have their strong points, but I think they aren't special overall. Astonishing is just hyped out the window, basically because Whedon appeals to fans outside of comics, and Uncanny's flaws often have someone making excuses for it, rather than accepting it.
Deaths are overrated. Let's have some life, people.
House of M. These stunts are just going to make me backflip into not reading comics anymore.
Wolverine and X-23. Enough of the mystifying multiplying man and Psylocke's inconsistently characterized buddy.

Both Emma and Phoenix/Jean.
Psylocke. Ninja daredevil? How about Elektra?

X-23. And Wolverine, to repeat everyone else.

Well, Emma Frost, of course.<g>
Magneto, as not such a bad guy. He's a great villain and has been since the 1960s, so I've never been wild about the change that Claremont made in him. I stopped reading Excaliber, partly because Magneto was portrayed as a good guy.
Sentinels -- too much Sentinels technology is around. Sentinels are big robots that fight (and kill) mutants and can adapt to their superpowers (to some degree). The upgrades just don't do it for me. And this concept keeps being used, again and again.
Anything that has to do with Cable and his background. Fortunately, there has been much of that stuff appearing lately (although it may be that I have not been reading the books where it has been appearing).
