The discussion on solo series got me thinking abouit the many limited series over the years.

When was the last time you went "Wow!" in response to an issue of an X-related mini? Has any more recent mini left you with that 'feeling' you might have had when reading X-related titles in years past?

Conversely, what minis have left you totally disinterested? Where you found nothing worthwhile in the way of story? When you really wish you could have gotten your money back?

House of M so far. Huge disappointment.

Madrox really did live up to my expectations; the only reason I can't say it blew me away is that I went into it expecting a lot in the first place. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but there haven't been a whole lot of X-Minis that really wowed me. The New Mutants: Truth or Death mini was fun at the time, but fudged up continuity something fierce. Really, I'll stick with the best of the best: the original X-Men vs. the Fantastic Four. Damn good stuff.

I have to say that I really loved the Hellions mini. It far surpassed my expectations in the way of storytelling and making me care about the characters. In that sense, it 'wowed' me.

Of recent stuff the X-Factor mini series from a couple years back blew me away. Maybe because I wasn't expecting it to be good or maybe because I was expecting the standard super hero stuff, but I loved that mini series.

Madrox met my expectations 100% and then some. A wonderful extension of Peter David's X-Factor stuff.

There were also a couple issues of that Muties mini series from a couple years back that I thought were REALLY good.

I imagine the biggest dissapointment from an X-related mini series was X-Men Forever. After Avengers Forever I really just wanted to be absolutely blown away. I rank Avengers Forever as one of the highlights in Avengers history. X-Men Forever is so unbeliavably forgettable it hurts me.

The recent X-Men/Fantastic Four mini was really dissapointing as well. I really went in to that with high expectations that were throuroughly trashed.

I thought the solo minis for Iceman, Chamber and Nightcrawler a few years ago were surprisingly good. The Chamber one was smart, the Nightcrawler one was poignant, and the Iceman one was a really exciting adventure- I thought it was one of the best depctions of Bobby to date.

The Cyclops one fell flat, although it was cool to see Texiera's art (he just shouldn't have been drawing Cyclops).
Recently, X4 and Phoenix Endsong come to mind as pretty darn awful.

i really enjoyed the first two issues of phoenix: endsong.
madrox overall was definitely a good read.
mekanix was also a decent mini, albeit one i enjoyed more in the beginning than the end.
chamber: icon series was the only one out of the bunch that i enjoyed (rogue's being the worst).

I enjoyed the Madrox and Iceman mini because it was a great read the whole way through in both of them. I didn't much care for the X-Men/FF mini and thought it was a waste of a good idea.

Oh, add Wolverine: The End to the waste of time pile for me. That said I'm loving X-Men: The End. It's sooooo Claremont.

I'm loving the pants off of X-Men: The End, and i also really dig this Kitty Pryde mini with eh Paul Smith art!

But aside from that, the last mini i think really wowed me was the X-Men: True Friends mini with Kitty & Rachel. Good times.

Check out Havok & Wolverine: Meltdown for some "wow" moments folks! :)

i agree, i picked this up maybe 6 months ago and really enjoyed the art. the original issues were only about $1.00 a piece from milehighcomics.com, and they were in decent enough shape.

Madrox is probably the X-mini I enjoyed the most these last few years.

I liked the Cyclops series from Texeira and .. Vaughn was it? Juggernaut may have been out of character, but I liked Cyclops being portrayed again as a good leader and an intelligent man instead of the guy just pointing at a villain and telling the team to attack.

Wolverine/Doop was odd, enjoyable but odd.

Iceman had nice art, but I didn't like the story. I enjoyed the Hellfire Club mini (or at least parts 3 and 4), but it was nothing too special... tries to think of other minis.

I agree with the Lucky One- FF vs. X-Men is great. (I wonder if it'll be included in Essential X-Men 7 ? It should be.) I second the props for Havok/Wolverine: Meltdown, too.

I liked the Madrox mini a lot. I'm both enjoying X-Men: The End and shaking my head at the shear nuttiness of the whole thing. It's like getting pure uncut Claremont after smoking oregano for the past decade. Maddening, really. Can't say I care for the art, though.

WOW:
Days of the future now (?) starring Wolverine, Synch, Leech and Jubilee where Psylocke and Amiko (as midnight) were their enimies.

The 2nd half of the latest Rogue serie

The Beast Ltd with Karma and Sam fighting Viper and Spiral who transformed Leong and Nga.

Bloodwedding with all the favorite women of Logan where he seemed married with Viper.

The End 1 & 2

Not WOW at all:
AoA 2
Mutopia

Phoenix Endsong wowed me with the first issue.

All the ones after that were not so good.

X4 was pretty pointless.

My favorite X-mimi overall would have to be The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix. That final moment when Scott gave Nate the name Cable( a link to the past, present, and future) was awesome. Phoenix Endsong is a close second. Those X-men: the End mimi-series are pretty crappy.

X-Men The End is probably the X-Book I look forward to the most every month. Pure Claremont.

Of the Icon Series, the Chamber one was the only one I really liked. Cyclops and Nightcrawler were decent. But I thought Rogue and Iceman were very bottom of the barrel.

count me among those who loved the original X-men vs. the Fantastic Four.

also, the Wolverine mini by Claremont and Miller is just... "wow". definitely wow. i also loved "Kitty Pryde & Wolverine", which had several powerful scenes.

and since it is X-related (one issue anyway)- let me pull in my favorite- Marvels. certainly the most beautiful of all the minis I've ever read.

misses-
Endsong. *sigh* so pretty, but so very, very wrong.
