Can anyone tell me where this Ultimate FF pic is copied from?

It might have already been covered, but I can't tell where it's been lifted from.

Have a good day.

Obviously various car ads. Land didn't even try to match up the various angles the light is coming from.

Does land actually draw anything? Or does he just draw costumes on magazine pictures. I always thought those models photoshopped to look like super heroes photos were lame. Appearantly you can get a job as a top comic artist doing that. Hmmm...

Yeah, I was wondering if there was anything specific in there or just that Land copied a bunch of cards from photo. Good point about the light sources, pip.

Dammit. I was reading that issue and getting pissed off. I used to love Land's work on Birds of Prey, now it seems he does that photorealistic copying more than ever and it's pissing me off. I don't remember him being this bad on that book. There was more pencil work and less photorealism. What did CrossGen do to him?

Yeah, when I first saw the preview art, I wondered:
(1) why cars in an essentially post-apocalyptic world were so shiney and clean
(2) why, when the cars were so shiney and clean, you didn't see the reflections of the cars in the bodywork of the others.

Tsk.

If anyone doubting Land's ability to come up with innovative art concepts needs to buy a few Sojourn trades. Usually when Rich mentons a swipe he will post the original picture next to the swipe and let fans compare the two for themselves. That did not happen here and I have to wonder why.

In reading my post I inadvertently came off as belligerent and angry so I apologize for the tone in which I defended Greg Land. It’s just that Land is one of my favorite artists and accusing an artist of swiping is the equivalent of accusing a writer of plagiarizing. There are artist out there who have very bad reputations which began when they were accused of swiping and I don’t want to see that happen to Greg as I have been a gigantic fan of his since his Nightwing annual nine years ago. Again I apologize if I came across as hostile as that was not my intent.

He's not being accused of "swiping" the picture, but of cutting and pasting random cars for his "art".
It's not that he swipes, it's that he went from an artist who uses photo reference, to an artist who does little more than Photoshop pictures for his art.
I guess when Greg Horne got his own art book, Land figured, "why bother?".

Greg Land, from back in his Crossgen days, has always admitted to using photo reference. Heck, he even did a tutorial on using photo reference in Wizard magazine. There's nothing wrong with it so get over it. He's still a killer artist. I don't see what the big deal is.

And let's remember he drew many issues of fan favorite book Sojourn, and he did a fine job at it too!

Wow. This is quite a weird place we are in with technology. A penciler doesn't have to pencil much anymore.

Well, this is still better than that Poser type crap I thought was decent that Austin did with Elektra and War Machine.

Again, I like Land, still do, but I just find his art has lost something and has become more static and doesn't quite mesh as well. Sure it looks nice, but sometimes it just seems out of place and it can hurt story telling. As with videogames, I think photorealism is overrated. Part of drawing comics is the ability to create emotion and convey what the writer wants. When you are just finding photo refs to match them all the time and not doing too much yourself, I dunno, I think you're losing something special. Now not that Land is that bad or doing that much, but I think he's gone more in the direction than he used to and I miss his older and less photo realistic style.
