The JSA issues sound good to me. As for JLA, "New Maps of Hell" is a cool title, but it sounds like a return to the style of the Chuck Austen crybaby issues. No thanks.

The first issue was in no way whiney, and that's generally not Warren Ellis's style, but I suppose anything's possible.

I'll probably be dropping JLA after the current arc is over with because it looks like Batman will be out. The JSA issue sounds interesting. Jakeem Thunder goes bad?

I think it's gonna be good. The Key was a Batman villain. I'm assuming they'll have to deal with him without Batman's help. I've gotten to the point where I can't wait for the next issues. I wanna know what happens in IC, damnit :D
OMACs appear on the scene
Am I alone in thinking that the DC universe is heading towards something out of the Matrix with the OMACS hunting heroes and being everywhere just like the agents? Not that it's a bad thing in itself, the first Matrix was good.

DC already did an outstanding version of the Matrix, in the pages of JSA, with the Stealing Thunder arc.

The Key was a Batman villain.
He was? I thought the Key was an old JLofA villain.
Looking forward to World Without A Justice League.

With Bob Harras in charge of the JLA...how long until they start sporting leather jackets with a big "J" on them? :D

I saw him in Gotham Knights, can't remember which issue.

Why stop there? They can put big "L"s on their foreheads, and maybe "A"s on their butts.
Harras ruined the Avengers for me, until Busiek finally restored them to respectability.

Gotham Knights has only been around since 2000! Since when does that make The Key an old Batman Villain? By that same logic then that Samoan tattooed guy he fights in like issue 6 of Gotham Knights is an old member of the Batman Rogues Gallery. Every time (except that GK appearance) I have seen the Key he has been fighting the JLA both pre and post Crisis.

Who is Bob Harras?
He wrote the Avengers for several years, and tried to make them kewl by making them grim and gritty. Avengers began wearing brown bomber jackets, about the same time that those jackets were very popular with middle-aged yuppies. Black Knight even wore a bomber jacket over his armor, when he wasn't too busy with his love triangle with Sersi and Crystal. Then there was the excrutiatingly long and slow Gatherers storyline, which culiminated with the realization that the main villain was an alternate reality version of Black Knight. Black Knight, Black Knight, Black Knight 24/7. No wonder Avengers writers have been ignoring him for over a decade now. I think the only good part of the Harras run was the Kree-Shi'ar War.

Bob Harras is currently writing the excellent Breach series. It is a great mix of a book that is sort of half DCU half Vertigo, but set squarley in the DCU. Issue 8 just came out this month and had Superman guest starring. The series is ending with either issue 11 or 12 which is a shame becaue it really is a great book.

And suddenly I'm a little more apprehensive about him taking over JLA.

Ooooooh Supergirl in the Justice League! I wonder if this means Supes is off the team for a while? Maybe they are looking to recruit Supergirl because they need a super-kryptonian to get the job done. Could the whole trinity be leaving the JLA?
JSA #79 - Amid the ruins of Dr. Fate's tower, one half of the JSA fight for their lives against Mordru, free from his imprisonment in the Rock of Eternity. Meanwhile, the rest of the JSA battle to save the Fifth Dimension from the iron grip of...Jakeem Thunder!
Jakeem Thunder going bad!? Maaaan I love me some good JSA! I cannot wait for each issue!
Sounds like some good things are coming this November :D

Hell, looks Infinite Crisis will be really messy. On George Perez's cover we can see the JLA satellite which also looks like it's partly destroyed. And now Dr. Fate's Tower? I can't wait to see more.

The Key made his first appearance waaaay back in the original Justice League of America #41. He has always been primarily a League villain. his revamp in JLA is my favorite story of the Grant Morrison run.

There was an even earlier Key, who harassed the JSA in All-Star #57 ("The Mystery of the Vanishing Detectives"). This "Key" has supposedly been dead since 1951, but may or may not be connected or related to the later Key.

ExoKnight needs a bit more:
Who is Bob Harras?
In addition to Shellhead's info, when he was writing Avengers, I BELIEVE he was the Editor-in-Chief (or just about to become so...at the very least he was the editor of the X-Men related books). Many people think the things he did during his Avengers tenure were market driven...in short, to make the Avengers more like the wildly popular X-Men. Mostly he grafted superficial stuff like the jackets (to this day a point of contention amongst Avengers fans) and the whole "grim & gritty" bit, inappropriately, IMHO, onto the book. Many thought this somewhat of an "abuse" of his editorial position, but, hey, when you're the boss, you get to do what you want. ;)
Who is Bob Harras?
He was an editor at Marvel for a long time. Eventually, he was book editor for Marvel's mutant books--X-Factor, Uncanny X-Men, The New Mutants--to replace former editor, Ann Nocenti, who became a full time writer at this point. Eventually, Harras replaced Tom Defalco as Marvel's Editor-in-Chief. In the 90's, Harras wrote The Avengers, but wrote the Avengers as X-Men which was a big mistake. Harras had a few freelance assignments in the mid-80's as a writer too. He penned the Iron Man Annual #8 which had X-Factor make an appearance. Joe Quesada replaced Bob Harras at Marvel.

Yeah, thats essentially what "World Without a Justice League" means, and I believe that October's solicits said that the big three leave the JLA and Batman tries to keep Nightwing from forming a new JLA. Could someone confirm this for me?
