I don't know if this has been discussed already in another house of M thread, and if it has I'm sorry, but after reading issue 5, I just had a thought and I'd like to know if I'm the only one thinking this:

What if it wasn't Magneto who used Scarlett Witch? Someone in issue 5 talks about how they assume it all went down and how the switch happened, and that Magneto must have found some way to force Xavier to do what he wanted. But what if it was Xavier all along?

I'm thinking Xavier did all this, and Magneto, for some reason, is the only one who knows.

does that sound crazy?

A lot of us have been thinking that it wasn't Magneto or Wanda's idea, that maybe Pietro, Charles or an as-yet-unrevealed 3rd party is the brains behind the House of M.
(My money's on Lorna, but I bet I'm wrong...)

Its gotta be either Magneto, Wanda, Quicksilver or Xavier.

Anyone else will feel very left field...

Somethings I've been thinking about...

· Xavier isn't real. We last saw the real Xavier in the opening of House of M, but starting from the Avengers/X-Men meeting he was a construct of the Scarlet Witch. In fact Marvel could get away with saying any element of the story is fake.

· The identity of Layla Miller: she might not really be "Layla Miller". I've heard everything from being really Professor X to Cassandra Nova to Mephisto!

· It's starting to feel like Magneto being the leader of the world only happend by virtue of that being his deepest wish, not because he made it happen

· If Xavier/Quicksilver ARE the culprits...then Xavier better have a damn good motivation.

· Its possible someone could have possesed Xavier

· I'm also wandering if Sublime has something to do with it. We know the Xorneto thing will be brought up in #7, which makes me wonder who everyone really is. Someone either has a deep seeded hidden agenda OR someone is concealing their true identity.

To be honest I'm not that impressed with those outcomes...I'm more interested in seeing what the MU looks like after the crossover. I'm hoping for some interesting changes...

Maybe Magneto really is dead as of Grant's New X-Men and Wanda created the new Magneto with the dead shapeshifter excuse?

Despite the seemingly mixed reviews, the mini has outperformed the Countdown minis. Internet fandom is further divided by Bendis.

That's the twist. Oh wait, that's what happened. :p

How does Quicksilver make sense? Just because he didn't want his sister to die?

Layla miller is probably Wanda, which is why she remembers everything and can fix it.

Don't forget that the human version of Wanda might not be Wanda's wish, but someone else's. Like Quicksilver's for example, who loves his sister so much that he wishes she wasn't a mutant so she wouldn't have any problems.

After the revelations in Astonishing X-Men#12 and New Avengers #9, we might say that the Hellfire is involved and there's nigh possibility Wanda might become the new Red Queen.

In your opinion. I've been enjoying each of the Countdown Minis. Especially Day of Vengence and Villains United.

I think he meant in terms of sales.

I think he meant in terms of sales.

That's exactly what I meant. If you look at the whole post, you should be able to tell that is what I was going for.

Seriously, House of M reviews are really mixed. With some hating, some enjoying, many saying it's slow. But damn, that thing is selling.

Jun 05 House of M #1 (of 8) - 254,663
Jun 05 House of M #2 (of 8) - 175,374 (-31.1%)
Jul 05 House of M #3 (of 8) - 151,744 (-13.5%)
Jul 05 House of M #4 (of 8) - 146,259 ( -3.6%)

Given how fast Marvel allows retailers to change order numbers, we have a good indication that this thing is selling.

(20) DAY OF VENGEANCE
04/ 2005: Day of Vengeance #1 (of 6) -- 64,856 -- [97,029]
05/ 2005: Day of Vengeance #2 (of 6) -- 64,468 (- 0.6%) -- [89,524]
06/ 2005: Day of Vengeance #3 (of 6) -- 78,445 (+21.7%)
07/ 2005: Day of Vengeance #4 (of 6) -- 75,505 (- 3.8%)

Now, add any two of the latest issues and they do outsell HoM #4. But I haven't even added some of the HoM tie-in minis like Spider-Man, FF, Iron Man, etc. Now, I'd hate to have to get into all the DC mini tie-ins since that's pretty much the entire DCU right now. But suffice it to say, HoM has been doing well for Marvel in terms of sales.

Oh what the hell, from July's Marvel numbers. Just going for the House of M minis relating to Spider-Man, Iron Man and Fantastic Four.

22. SPIDER-MAN: HOUSE OF M
Jun 05 Spider-Man: House of M #1 (of 5) - 89,052
Jul 05 Spider-Man: House of M #2 (of 5) - 71,586 (-19.6%)

23. IRON MAN: HOUSE OF M
Jul 05 Iron Man: House of M #1 (of 3) - 71,259

25. FANTASTIC FOUR: HOUSE OF M
Jul 05 Fantastic Four: House of M #1 (of 3) - 70,827

Now, if I were to add the latest issue numbers of those to the main HoM mini's latest issue, that would (in terms of sales) result in higher numbers than the four main Countdown minis put together.

Okay, I'll do that right now. Just using HoM #4, Spidey #2, FF #1 & Iron Man #1 compared to OMAC #4, DoV #4, VU #3 and R/T #3.

Marvel:

359,931

DC:

336,604

By the way, using this system I just did, Marvel sold more comics by 23,327.

And I didn't even bring in HoM #3, and that came out in July too. I could have done that and the numbers would have been much higher in Marvel's favor.

After the revelations in Astonishing X-Men#12 and New Avengers #9, we might say that the Hellfire is involved and there's nigh possibility Wanda might become the new Red Queen.

That's probably Whedon's storyline to play with when he gets back, and I doubt Marvel wants to alienate him.

I've been enjoying House of M too, which is surprising to me, because I generally hate event type shit that sucks everything into it. But all the House Minis and tie-ins that I've read have been pretty sweet (Granted, I've only read Hulk, HoM Spidey, and HoM F4) and the HoM mini itself is good too. That's what happens when one of your favorite writers is the lynchpin for a crossover though (I wonder how long until Gail gets to be in charge of a ridiculous Summer event? Now THAT would be sweet)

As for who did it, my money is on Pietro. Magneto would be too obvious, and not twisty enough. Plus it would really add to Magneto's "WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE I'M JUST TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THING WHY DO YOU GET ALL IN MY GRILL" complex if the combined wrath of nearly all the Marvel heroes was pointed at him for something that wasn't his fault. It probably also helps that Pietro is a weenie and I hate him.

Grant stated in his latest interview that Magneto is not dead though.
