This is just an interesting story I heard yesterday.
I have a friend named Bob who just got a job working for the CIA. No, I am not pulling a Carl Rove here. Bob is an accoustic/video engineer who specializes in designing meeting and conference rooms. He designed some for the Pentagon that were destroyed on 9/11. After that he designed a system for the Pentagon which had video monitors and automated voices directing people to the nearest exit in case of attack.
Bob is also in the SCA and is one of their better instructors for swords and fencing. He is really one of the best SCA fencers on the east coast.
Bob is also a converted musilem.
Bob has now been hired to upgrade all the video/audio equipment in the meeting rooms at CIA headquarters in Langley. He had his first meeting at Langely yesterday. It was a surprise meeting: he was supposed to go up there on Friday but they called him up at the last minute and asked to change it to yesterday.
When Bob got to the main gates there was one car ahead of him. He saw security go up to the driver in front of him and asked the driver to pull to the side. He saw CIA agents walk up to the car and ask the driver to step out (couldn't hear them talking, but it was pretty obvious.) The CIA agents then looking inside the man's car, and popped the trunk. They looked at something in the trunk, close the trunk, walk back to the driver, frisk him and then slapped handcuffs on him. The agents then escorted the driver away and that was the last Bob saw of the man.
Because it was a surprise meeting Bob had very little time to prepare. As they motioned for Bob to drive forward he remembered the islamic cresent moon decal on his bumper. He also remembered his fencing equipment in the trunk of his car, including two real swords he uses for display at tournaments.
Bob was very nervous.
Thankfully they let him through without looking in the trunk of his car.
