Cover Challenge, 8/10

I would say the covers all herald the return of Jim Lee to the WildStorm fold-- back to drawing for the company he founded after uber-pimping his way thru the DCU. DC had purchased WildStorm specifically for Lee, they got him and the sales that followed, now they have to give him back (or he really wants to be back).

Each of the covers has a kind of snide allegory to the process, from "pulling teeth" to "fine you can have him back, we're done," to "the reluctant king," to "he really had no choice anyways." At least that's just how I see it is all...

Having looked up all the covers on GCDB (and thanks for the tip), I'd say the common factor is that every one of these comics features an appearance by Zatanna.

Fascinating suggestions. Someone got it almost instantly via e-mail (I purposely didn't make it very hard this week), and all I can say for the moment is that one of you is dead right, and one of you is dead wrong.

Zatanna is currently being written by Grant Morrison, who was announced as writer on the new Wildcats project with Lee. Also, all issues feature those DC characters currently embroiled in their "Countdown to Infinite Crisis" minis.

Turns out I was the one who was dead wrong, which I guess is better than being undead wrong. Curse me and my cynical view of the industry!
