Considering the whole Blue/ Red fiasco ranks among some of the worst Superman comics I have ever come across, I would recommend avoiding it like a plague. I doubt there would be a trade on it yet because it was, as I recall, universally despised. Get something like Superman: Arkhum/ Superman: Emperor Joker or better yet Superman: Secret Identity.

The original Superman Blue/Superman Red story from the 1960s was great.

Oh. I've never heard about that one actually. Is that what he was referring to?

Superman tired of having krtyptonite as a weakness sought to cure himself once and for all. He sat in a machine that was powered by all the types of kryptonite, white greenm red gold blue jewel.

The result was he was split into two superman. One who's suit was all blue the other all red.

Together they set about to make the world a pardise, curing all disease, curing all crime, enlarging the city of kanndor rebuilding krypton.

One superman married lana lane and moved to new krypton , the other stayed on earth and married lois lane.

I'm with Ilash on this one - toe-curlingly bad story. Everything I hated about 60s DC, all in 1 story. Stupid premise, terrible art, horrible colouring. I have never understood why this story is so well regarded.

Actually, that video game had a "Superman Red" so that another player can join in :p I doubt Taito's engineers had that story in mind.

That was a great arcade game, by the way!

As far as the original Pre-Crisis story goes, It's probably collected in one of the archived editions. Can anyone verify this?

As far as the Post-Crisis story goes, the answer is no. But go back to your comic book shop, check out Superman stories from 1997. I'm sure you'll run into the Cyborg story where he splits Kal into two beings.

I dont' remember off-hand the issue number :(

(

the gcd shows only one reprinting, in dc 100-page superspectacular 18 (july '73), though i know i've got it in one of dc's early '80s blue ribbon digests. the original is in superman 162 (7/63). quintessentially weisengerian superman.

Actually, I liked the electric Superman designs--just not as Superman. Would've been nice if it was a new hero or whatever.

They used the Superman Blue costume for a character called Strange Visitor, but unfortunately they almost instantly killed her.

He split into red and blue incarnations in the early 80's as well, in some kind of special format, oversized issue. I don't remember the details, but the whole thing involved Luthor and... ur, the space cowboy. Its been years and years since I've read it, so please forgive my vagueness.

What were Superman Blue and Superman Red's powers anyway? I've only read one story with Blue and he seemed to have Magneto like energy powers...but not so much in the strength and all that jazz department. What's the deal with them? (Talking most recent incarnations btw.)
