The styles and experience outside of their mma matches.

The kinda stuff they had on TUF web site bios. It's hard to pick a winner on just numbers.

I really got into the first season and became a big fan of ultimate fighting because of it. My only gripe was that something wasn't quite right with how the fights were worked out. Sam Hogar got into the semifinals without having to fight once. That shouldn't have happened. Diego fought two or three times (I can't remember which). And they shouldn't have eliminated anyone before the fights began. The fights should decide who stays and who goes.

Looking forward to season two.

Besides, what does being 4 time All American have to do with MMA?

From what I'm hearing, an episode of ST:TNG.

That's what I heard though. It might have changed.

Did you watch season one? What did he do when he got in the ring?

Did you watch season one? What did he do when he got in the ring?

Nothing actually. He rode the rules.

With what he did to Leben & tried to do to Diego would win you fights, yes...but it ain't gonna get you rehired. Lot of your competitors would definatly avoid & dodge you too. And Japan....forget about it.

Sean Sherk used to do the same thing. Where is he now? He owns his own flooring company & trying to pay off his school which he recently closed down. As well as feed two kids.

Ending fights = better competitors = good pay = more contracts.

Not trying to be mean or elite or anything. It's just how the sport is sadly.

Hmmm, if that turns out to be true I wonder if the ratings will suffer by not having such a strong lead-in.

Exactly, so a 4x all american wrestler, wrestled in the ring

I actually thought it was a pretty good first episode that helped show some of the personalities in the house. I was surprised by the two guys who left. I like the fact that when they eliminated Kenny, they gave him the choice to win a fight to stay. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

Yeah. It sucked that Eli the Hutt & Quittin' Kenny couldn't hang out more. I would have love to see what Kenny would have done to Sam The Squeeze, especially since Sam is riding a KO victory against Dwayne Ludwig. It was lose/lose for Kenny.

btw, Jorge Gurgel is on tonight's edition of Pro Karate Weekly. Check it out.

I think he lost since he came home like 3 weeks ago (not sure when the show ended, and he can't talk about it)

I missed the first half of the show. I saw it right from when Randy Couture showed up before the challenge. What I saw was good. I was surprised at Melvin's performance in the octagon. If he had brawled with the guy, I think he would have won hands down. He appeared to be quicker and stronger. But he didn't fight his fight.

I hope he gets to come back, he was definantly better than anyone Deigo and Josh K. crushed last season.

This was a good epsiode, and already the challenges appear better than last seasons. While Melvin's ego did turn me off of him, his practical joke on Dana redeemed him a bit. But then he fought and while he was wily and able to escape plenty, I got teh feeling his heart really wasn't in it. If he has won 26 matches before, I don;t see how he was sooo non-aggressive during the fight. There was that point when he legitmately hurt the other guy(Josh?) and didn't keep going after him but backed up instead.

My guess is that he has won most of his fights by overwhelming his opponents, but he was afraid to try this time because he knew he would get caught. Josh(?) obviously thought he could beat Melvin, why else would he have picked him? Add that to the fact that he was picked second last, Melvin proabably wasnt feeling too confidant.

He kept fighting with a broken hand and he showed bursts of aggressiveness, he definantly wanted it. But he was afraid to go all out. I would put money on him winning a rematch.

Melvin did admit after the fight that he choked, if you think back to the first show you can see that he was feeling the pressure, from all the trash talking to not being able to sleep ( Leban was the same way ), I wasn't that surprised he lost; but I can see him coming back and doing a lot better. Just the way he was fighting shows the level of skill that he has under his belt.

I agree. That follow through toss was just beautiful. His wheel roll was nice & those guilloteens were on the money. What irked me was he kept giving up his back.

He's got the balls. He's just to clean the stupid out of his ears & nurture his brain.

Or get more stupid. I've got a feeling that if he had pushed a little harder, thrown some more moves, even if they weren't the greatest technique, he could have taken it. Josh wasn't doing all that great himself. But except for the period right after Josh kneed him in the face, he had no intensity.

Although I had a feeling he was going to lose, just beacuse of the way the show up until the fight was edited. They weren't portraying Melvin as someone who could back his cockiness up.

Last night's was very good but I felt that Jorge got screwed in that fight. I thought he should have won; I think he showed how much heart really he had. I wonder if Matt going to give him his props or start bragging about how he always thought that Jorge wasn't good enough to win.

Dude, you want to talk about heart? The other guy was getting his ass handed to him in the first round, and he ended up getting a pretty clean decision. Granted, some of that was Jorge's knee going out on him, but that's half the game. I mean, dude looked like he was missing half his face, and he fought through it, got more aggressive on the punches, and managed to take two rounds fairly decisively.

That said, if this was a straight up fight, it would have gone on forever. Neither guy was striking with any real power.

Don't get me wrong the other guy ( sorry I don't remember his name ) had a TON of heart; it's just imo I thought Jorge won but hell I'm not a judge so what do I know. I just want to know if Matt going to give Jorge his props since he been ribbing him so hard or continue to talk trash about him as he leaves the show.

Really? Jorge one the first round pretty definitely, but I thought it was pretty obvious other guy took the second and third pretty decisively. Far more strikes landed. Jorge had a second wind late in the third, but it was way too late.

And given that Matt's been a dick pretty much the entire show, I don't see why that wouldn't continue.

All I can say so far is that I despise Matt Hughes and will always root for whomever he's facing in the Octagon from now on. I keep hoping he's going to piss off one of the competitors with his remarks and he gets clocked for it. Sure, it would probably mean the competitor will be removed from the show (can't have your precious "star" get hurt, now can we?), but it would be worth it to see someone just crack him one.

Good show...

I thought the fight was lackluster, but hopefully after Dana talks to them they will actuall pretend to engage in a fight...

My new Favortite to win on the show is VON FLUE!
