Now that it appears that INFINITE CRISIS will be a direct sequel to CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS in storyline as well as name, do you believe that the Golden Age Superman (Kal-L of the former Earth-2 universe) will be making an appearance in INFINITE CRISIS?

Was it announced somewhere that Infinite Crisis is a direct sequel to the actual story of Crisis of Infinite Earths? I must've missed that. According to the earlier interviews I read it's more of a "really really really bad day for the DCU" rather than anything to do with a multiverse-type deal.
Didn't Kal-L show up in "The Kingdom" ... not that they acknowledge Hypertime anymore.

It was announced at Wizard World Chicago that it is the sequel to COIE.

"Sequel" could mean a lot of things in this context, though.
With the latest round of hype, I wouldn't count out some continuity-minded shenanigans. That said, I still think a simple cosmic threat is far more likely.

Hints here and there - including some character who appears to be Kal-El crossed with some aspects of Moore's SA Superman from "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" appearing in SUPERMAN/BATMAN, and odd stuff with Power Girl in JSA - suggest that some of the earlier versions of Superman and some other characters will be involved in INFINITE CRISIS.
Personally, at this point I wish they'd done what they probably should have done with the original CRISIS and just wipe out all continuity and start over from scratch. That way the awful depictions of a lot of the DC icons over the past year or so could simply be erased and ignored forevermore.

What would piss me off is if they went and undid COIE and made it so there were differnet realitys and things like that, I mean seriously that would probobly cause an uprising

They already did that, in Morrison and Quitely's EARTH-2 graphic novel (which reestablished the Crime Syndicate's alternate universe), THE KINGDOM and related books (which established Hypertime), and with the crossovers with the Wildstorm DCU (BATMAN/PLANETARY, MAJESTIC, the upcoming CAPTAIN ATOM revival). Not to mention the numerous post-CRISIS reboots and retcons, ranging from the large-scale (ZERO HOUR) to the inexplicable (Byrne's DOOM PATROL reboot).
Supposedly Hypertime will not longer exist as a concept in the DCU once INFINITE CRISIS is over.

That way the awful depictions of a lot of the DC icons over the past year or so could simply be erased and ignored forevermore. It's a tempting thought...but they'd have to scuttle A LOT of their top-selling books to do it. (That's why COIE and its follow-ups were so fragged: DC didn't want to screw up certain top-selling titles - which wound up tanking eventually for other reasons, such as writer burnout.)
Until a little while ago, I'd have been very unhappy about any such suggestion, as it would almost certainly mean that the Golden Age JSA would be Supergirled into never having existed. There never was a Golden Age Flash, or a Golden Age Green Lantern, or ANY Golden Age superheroes. There never were any Silver Age superheroes either. None of that long and complex history ever happened.
They start over from Day One, ON Day One, in PRESENT time, with the first and for a while the ONLY superhero - Superman. Then they gradually (re) introduce Batman, Wonder Woman and whoever else they think are likely to be cash cows - anybody who doesn't meet that "gold standard" (ka-CHING! ka-CHING!) remains nonexistent.
That's not a DCU I would give a flying fig about. But since I have already decided to get out of the comics scene altogether, it's no longer any skin off my tokus.

It was stated at SDCC. Check the IDENTITY CRISIS coverage from SDCC.

Yes, but as I pointed out in another thread at the time this news about "Hypertime is gone from the DCU" first broke, it is far from clear what that means in terms of "changing" the daily continuity of the DCU.
Does it mean there are no more stories about alternate timelines? No more Wildstorm crossovers? No more Crime Syndicate in their own negative universe? No more shameless retcons and reboots that we are supposed to take in stride?
I doubt it means any of those things. My suspicion is that what it basically means is, "From now on, when characters travel back and forth between different timelines and stuff, they won't mention the word 'Hypertime' in dialogue as an excuse for what they are doing!"
If I'm right, this is not a Huge Change in the way DC actually does things :)

so how about DC does a restart instead of a reboot.. and pisses down 70 years of history... yeah that'll work.. i'm sure...

Because it's a sequel, doesn't mean the Multi-Verse is coming back. But now they might remember what happened. The Anti-Monitor is ocming back for sure. I think with some characters that are getting replaced at the end of IC is good for DC. It's about time to move onto a new age, I know people are like "But I grew up" with this hero, well I'm 20 and I didn't! I grew up with Kyle Rainer, Wally West, Clark Kent (New Age), Bruce Wayne (New Age), etc. I was born in 1985. When COIE happened, while I'm a fan of Hal's history, I hope in the end that he could end up getting cut-off in a noble way. He can be the Barry Allen of this story, Kyle has proved that he can overcome fear, he was the Last GL and STARTED the Rebirth. But with sales right now, Hal's a popular fella. :)

I have heard Kal-L and Superboy are a good bet to be back... As well as another character who made his debut in "Crisis on Infinite Earths" #1... In fact he's already appearing in the pages of "Villains United" as "Mockingbird." And it's NOT the Monitor, or Anti-Monitor....

More than likely it has to be 2 people. Pariah or Alex Luthor who has seemingly made his way back to this DCU reality. You know what would be a kick ass sequel ? Have Alex Luthor be the evil bad ass who has gained all of the anti-moniters power and Is gonna unleash some serious HELL on the DCU! Yeahh...be awesome. :D

Just recently I went back and checked out the Teen Tiatans/Legion Special to refresh my memory. One thing that seems to have been forgotten, or, at least, not mentioned is a line from Invisible Kid as Brainiac 5 sends the Fatal 5000 back to their original realities.
Brainiac 5: "Unfortunately destroying the axes is unleashing an energy that's severing our connection to the spacetime continuum."
Robin: "The world is blowing up?"
Brainiac 5: "No. It's a localized effect. The universes are fine. Its us that's been cut loose. That wasn't in my calculations."
Kid Flash: "You got something wrong?"
Invisible Kid: "That's not what he said. There's some other force out there...Something that's pounding against reality."
At first I thought it could be the Anti-Monitor. But the last time we saw Kal-L he was "pounding against reality". Two possibilities there.
