WHAT?

You're telling me this show is a reality show set in Orange County and this is how they act all the time? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiznit. I thought it was supposed to be a faux reality show with cute girls.

I cannot and will not believe that such a heavily scripted and produced show such as "Laguna Beach" could even come close to being "real". That show is about as real as the Power Rangers, and just as dramatic.

I'm extremely surprised that they even try to pass this off as reality tv. I laugh out loud every time it's on from the sheer stupidity.

Me and my friend are constantly arguing over this.
It is apparently one of his fasvorite shows and he wont even consider that it isnt real. :P

There are enough articles out there that pretty much say that the show is "scripted". It's more like an "improv drama", where they manufacture the storylines and then just let the kids kind of play the roles, but without actual scripts.

It's too goofy to be real. Those girls are so spoiled that the majority of what they say is instant comedy. Much like Ally Hilfiger was on "Rich Girls".

It's real. Or at least it's real enough.

I live in Southern California. My friends and I have seen these kids around, acting just as they do on the show. I personally saw Kristin acting just as uberbitch as she does on the show, decked out for clubbing, cruising around Laguna in a convertible driven by an older--and predictably sleazy--guy.

But that doesn't mean the producers aren't prompting the cast, prodding them to dish dirt on Person A, nudging them into acting out Revenge Fantasy B. To me, Season 2 seems to have a stronger taint of directorial interference than Season 1.

So yeah. It's real enough.
