New York - Hill Harper's Dr. Hawkes will not be the cast member slated to be written off the show in the first two episodes of the new season. He'll be bumped up from the morgue to working in the field.
Miami - Calleigh is moved into toxicology after the events of last season's finale, but ends up back in ballistics after her replacement botches cases including one that sets a killer free.

Regarding Horatio, we will learn that in New York, years before he became a cop he killed someone. While it was an honorable killing, it's one of the things that haunts him. A priest who was a monsignor at the time and is now a cardinal who knows Caine will become a recurring character that arrives in Miami. Horatio's ex-wife, a NY prosecutor will also play a recurring role.
