View Full Version : Where should an inter-company crossover thread go?

I want to start a thread revisiting the Batman vs. Captain America story John Byrne did some years back, but, just like every other time I wanna talk about such a crossover, I'm not sure where to put it.

I'd like DC'ers to see it and for Marvelites to see it, but didn't feel comfortable starting two threads (but maybe I should, as I've done it before). I also thought about putting it on the COMM board, but I could see it either being mistaken, at a glance, for a Rumbles topic OR being shoo'ed to the DC or MARVEL board.

Suggestions?

If not Comm, maybe Classic Comics?

Otherwise why NOT start two separate threads? It's a shame that you wouldn't get opposing views from each company's fans in one thread, but you'd at least still get both opinions.

During the Marvel vs DC crossover a couple years ago, we had a seperate thread on both the Marvel and DCU forums.

We did? I thought that particular crossover pre-dated the existence of CBR. :)

I believe he might be thinking JLA/Avengers?

If I may chime in, I don't think that two seperate threads are such a good idea. You will probably get two seperate discussions apart from the few guys that post in both threads and many of them will just go "check out the other thread for my thoughts on this" after a while.
Is there a possibility to make headings in both forums that link to the same thread?

What he could do is start a thread on one board and ask the mod of that board to move the thread to the other board with a re-direct. But the only problem is the re-direct would slowly fall off the first page even if the fowarded thread is stil being posted on.

On of Brian Cronin's tricks about inter-compnay or inter-title crossovers is to discuss odd number issues on one board and even number issues on the other.

But with this case it is going to be hard. I would talk to the mods of the specific boards and see how they would like to handle it.

Thanks for the responses, everyone.

At first I didn't see them because it appears I wasn't "subscribed" to this thread. Maybe I was and other threads jumped to the top of the list before I could see this. Anyway, I've seen'em, now and will continue to watch for new ideas while I keep trying to figure out this challenge AND how I wanna phrase my question/title.

Thank, again (and in advance).

Am I completely off-base if I say that this community needs a "General Comics" forum?

I wouldn't say "off base."

That being said, I don't think we need one.

Any general comic threads can be placed upon the Community Board.

The only problem w/that is people in the CB tend to focus on social and
political topics and probably wouldn't get the responses that West is
looking for and the MU/DCU people probably won't for the most part
venture at CB also.

Well, there's only one way to know for sure, right? Let's start that kind of thread in the Community Board and see if they stick.

I really don't think that CBR members are as insular as you make them out to be. They probably check on more than just one or two boards. For example, I only ever use the "New Posts" feature, and rarely click on the individual Forums categories.

I'm afraid quite a few are pretty insular. Depending on which forums I check, there are people I never see on any of the other forums.

But empirism über alles: let's try and see if it works.
