Sometimes I read the children making snarky comments like "They buy the book even though the creative team sucks". 1. It's only opinion the creative team sucks. 2. Loyalty to characters (or sports teams) is commendable and increases the knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of a characters history. 3. If your comic collection only consisted of every issue of long running books like Action, Detective, and the Fantastic Four you'd have an awesome collection and I'm not referring to the monetary value of it. :)
