I recently purchased the box set of Black Adder and have been watching an episode (or two) every single night.
I love Black Adder II--the 'Bob' episode is my favorite.
Adder III comes to a pretty close second though- love the one about the 'dictionary'.
So how about you? Which Adder is your favorite? Any favorite episodes?

Black Adder is one of my fav comedies ever, along side Red Dwalf.
I'd Say Series 2 and 3 are the best with 3 just a bit better.
Fav episode, well, the last to Series 4, for obvious reasons. If your not there yet or you haven't seen it. It's good.
And the episode from series 3 with the Dictionary is my personal fav.

Series 2 is my personal favorite. I love that Blackadder came to be an intelligent, dashing figure in that series. My favorite episode has to be Beer.

Now this is a difficult choice.
Series 2 has many of my favourite episodes but I've seen them so many times I now edge towards 3.
But in order
Final episode of series 2. In prison with Lord Melchitt. Baaaaaa
Final episode of series 4. Just good beyond words.
Series 3, rescueing French aristos from the revolution.
Honourable mention to the Christmas special with Blackadder as Scrooge.
Black Adder II, with IV as a close second. No particular favorite episode. The third series had the best single episode (rescuing French aristocrats and accidentally poisoning The Scarlet Pimpernel).
For some reason, I didn't find the first series all that amusing.

Me too. I only liked the last episode, and the one when he nearly married the Spanish woman.

The tone of the first series was very different. In II-IV, Blackadder had a certain charm and wit. In the first series, he was only slightly less of a blight on a baboon's ass than Baldrick.

Gotta go with 2 or 3. Not familiar with 4, and 1 reminded me too much of Mr. Bean for my tastes. Season 2 also featured my all-time favorite put-down ever: "Baldrick, to you the Renaissance is something that happened to other people, isn't it?"
Honorable mention goes to Blackadder: Back and Forth, especially when he beat up Shakespeare for torturing students for centuries after.
"And that was for Kenneth Branaugh's impenetrable four-hour long Hamlet!"
"Who's Kenneth Branaugh?"
"I'll tell him you said that. I think he'll be hurt."

Oh they're all good, although I do love The dictionary and the Scarlet Pimpernel from III.
IV however wins simple because of the final episode, which I felt really emphasised an already poignant season.

Definately Blackadder II. Potato was on TV last night.

Do you realize that the crazy old legless captain was played by Tom Baker?
And the Prince Regent in season three is now House?

Yes

Yes
Actually TB is what makes Potato is just about my favourite Blackadder II episode.
Hugh Laurie was in Blackadder 2, 3 & Goes Forth. He has been a well known British TV personality for many years. I have not seen "House".

Actually in the first series, Baldrick was the smart one. Percy was dumber than both in the first two series.
I loved the second season the most I think. I haven't seen all of the fourth though. I liked the Christmas special alot, and Back and Forth was fun (the Shakespeare scene was great, as was the Robin Hood scene)
My favorite episode has to be the one with the actors from series 3, "So you want me to call it 'The Scottish Play'....Rather than MacBeth!"

Best quote...which I'm cobbling together from recollection:
"If you do not surrender the manuscript, then in my madness I will kill you all with my syphilis!"
I've not seen all the episodes, but I've seen a goodly bit. Wish they'd show it more often on BBC America. Season 3 is my favorite. I'll go with Dish & Dishonesty. Love that Pitt the Younger :D

Maybe it's just my imagination, but the smarter Black Adder gets, the lower in social class he gets as the series progresses.

Blackadder 2 is my favorite.
I love in Blackadder 4 when Blackadder is on trial for killing the pigeon, he tells Baldrick to deny everything and George says is your name Private Baldrick and he annouces proudly no I am not.
Very funny.

Watch House. It's bloody brilliant.
"Doc, I can't get my contact lenses out" "You're not wearing any." "But my eye's all red and sore"" That's because you're trying to remove your cornea." :D
And Laurie really came into his own in Goes Forth.
"Wouldn't want to face a German machine gun without this!" *waves wooden stick*

The loudest of the many laugh out loud moments I had watching Blackadder came in Blackadder Goes Forth when Bob returns.
After confronting Bob that she is, in fact, a girl, Bob says that she only wanted to be like her brothers and join up. She has wanted to see how a war is fought, so badly.
Blackadder replies that she’s in luck, as a war hasn’t been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, chief of all the Vikings, ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside!
Then there is always dashing Lord Flash to give us some much needed innuendo.
“Treat your kite like your woman. Get inside her five times a day and take her to heaven and back. Woof!”

A subtle dig at class structure perhaps?
Liked Blackadder series two myself.
Course the others were good; watching House purely out of Blackadder loyalty (good show, but primary loyalties and all that ..)

Second season was my fave, but fourth is close due to lots of little moments- such as the image of how much land had been taken- with a lump of turf on a table. Funny, true and poignant.
