I threw up in my mouth when I saw Mad Eye Moody's eye. That's pretty gross.

Yeah but not as gross as throwing up in your mouth!

When I fist saw a picture of him about a month ago it was a far off shot and the strap holding his eye in looked like they were gonna cop out and have him in an eyepatch. I'm just glad they did it sorta right.

Yea it's gross but that's kinda the point.

I've heard the possibility that to do justice to The Goblet of Fire, it would be so long that they would need to split it into two films ala Kill Bill. Has a decision been made yet?

Looking at those photos is very hard to do as there are so many people around the world doing just that, the servers are MASSIVELY slow. I just don't have the patience to wait that long. I was able to see a couple, and they look pretty good.

They decided after the last movie to make Goblet one 2 and half hour movie. Which I think is the best way to go. There's going to be some cuts to the story like the Dursleys are out and Herimone House Elf campaign. Michael Newell said he's focusing on the competition and Voldemort.

Well I know alot of people won't agree but I thought the last movie was horrible. It felt like a cliff notes version of the cliff notes version it was so rushed. Absolutely nothing was explained, people just rushed from one new(crappy) set to the next. You know, little unimportant things like how the only person to ever escape Azkhaban actually did it. Or how he knew Scabbers was Pettigrew and where to find him. Or how and why Lupin knew all about the Mauraders Map. Or why Harrys Patronus was a stag. Or the 9 million other integral points that ended up on the cutting room floor. I would think if you hadn't read the book you would wonder those things, you know?

With GoF being my favorite book and it being like what 200 or so pages longer than PoA I think I'll skip this one. I would love for them to do what LotR did and make a short movie for theaters and then an extended DVD, that way everyones happy and they (WB) make more money in the process. I mean they could literally have the screenwriter sitting a chair in a white room reading the screenplay for 2 and 1/2 hours in funny voices and still make bank. They realize they can throw anything on the screen and kids will go see it so it seems to me they don't try that hard anymore.

I think books 4 through 6 need 2 movies apiece to do them justice. There's just too much essential material that must be cut out otherwise (No, I'm not talking about S.P.E.W.).

It's much harder the you think to cut stuff out then leave everything in and make two movies. Michael Newell said they went through five or six drafts to get it right. I think the third movie worked really hard at trying to be a movie rather then an almost word for word translation of the book like the first two. The performances are better, the story is tighter and visually the film is more interesting in my opinion.

Honestly the kind of questions you have for the third movie didn't really bug me. I'm more interested in the characters rather then little plot details. I don't think it's completely necessary to know how Lupin knew about the map, how Sirius escaped or why Harry's Patronus is a stag. I think those are the kind of details that bog a movie down. These are the kind of details that people who've read the book over and over again seem to want to know.

I do think they should do extended version to appeal to fans. I think I heard they might start doing that in a year or two.

Harry and Neville definitely have a Lennon/McCartney thing going.

Admittedly I have a really hard time separating movies from their source material, but if I went to see PoA and I hadn't read the book, I would be asking myself the questions I outlined in my previous post. I don't want a "word for word translation" for the movie (ok maybe I do but I'm realistic enough to know I won't get it), but I do want all the major plot points to be hit. PoA failed in that regard and IMO a 2 and 1/2 hour GoF will to.

Neville looks like a hobbit in that picture.

The actor they have for Neville is *perfect*. Not only does he look like the character (in my mind) but from the cameos in the movies he has flawlessly captured Neville's bumbling, anxious and troubled personality.

I do have a problem in that area as they seem to have taken Neville's poor luck in class and given it to Seamus instead, whereas Seamus never had that problem in the books. Of course it does give Seamus some personality whereas in the books he really doesn't get much until, well until GoF(and then more in OotP). But then I'm a book purists, meh. I do think the biggest problems with these movies is the pacing, they just move way too fast, which is understandable given the size of the source material, but still fairly disapointing.

I agree with you on pretty much everything. I don't enjoy the PoA movie at all. On top of all the good stuff they cut out (you pretty much nailed all my complaints there), I have other complaints. I think a lot of the performaces are fairly poor. Radcliffe, Watson, Rickman, and Gambon mainly. Though I'll admit I have a tough time accepting Gambon because IMO, Harris WAS Dumbledore.

My biggest problem though are the cuts and transitions form scene to scene in the movie which I feel don't gel well at all. Most noticably when the students are all going to Hogsmeade and we cut to Harry and Lupin talking. A scene showing Harry running into Lupin and striking up a conversation like in the book was needed there IMO.
I felt the movie was rushed. Especially the begining. 20 minutes in and we have demetors on the train. That's nearly page 100 in the book. And while I realize a 435 page books needs to have scenes trimmed, I thought they went about it the wrong way. The movie could have easily been another 1-30 minutes IMO. Chamber of Secrets was a longer movie than PoA without half the story.
And while PoA is definately a darker book, I was quite depressed to see in the movie that Hogwarts was not reaaly portrayed as a nice place. Lots of gnarled architecture and scuh in this movie. Zero sunshine. Felt very much like a Tim Burton movie, which contrasted with the quite bright previous films was jarring.

I look forward to The Goblet of Fire with wariness.

For those interested, here's a new GoF trailer from some French website. The trailer is in English with French subtitles.

Linky (http://a69.g.akamai.net/n/69/13042/v1/quicktime.allocine.fr/nmedia/18/35/52/34/18397590_fa1_vost_hd.mov)

This is a direct link in .mov format for those that don't have Windows Media Player.

And for those that saw the old trailer notice they replaced the goblet with one that actually looks like the one from the book. That's one good thing anyway.

The trailers just keep getting better!

The score was reminiscient of Troy, IMO. It certainly will be an event movie.
