Maybe Az got wind of a "new killer Batman" in Gotham, and with him being reformed(right?) he'd come back to Gotham and take care of him the way Batman can't.

I find this hard to believe because Azrael is dead. After bringing back Jason Todd, I doubt that they would resurrect another member of the Bat-family in such a short period of time. But this is comics, and no one seems to stay dead forever.

It's actually very easy to bring back Azrael without bringing back Jean-Paul Valley. Azrael has never been much more than a very cool costume, a name, the Order of St.Dumas and the concept of the "System". In fact, as soon as DC got rid of the Quesada costume, most people seemed to lose interest in the character, which would tend to prove that he wasn't much of a character to begin with.

So if anyone wants to bring back Azrael, I think it's very simple: bring back the name, bring back the Order of St.Dumas, bring back the System, and bring back the cool costume, but get rid of Jean-Paul Valley (considering that he's dead, it shouldn't be too difficult). In my opinion, a new Azrael would be an excellent Batman villain.

If they do bring him back, they need to bring him back as suggested above with the System, Order etc.

Denny tried to "batmanize" Azrael and it failed. He kills, period. He's not going to ever be in the Justice League, so why sugar coat him?

What ever happened to just telling good Batman stories? I don't need Earth shattering revelations or graves being dug up. Dammit, DC, I don't want to drop Bat books, but you're producing such crap sometimes!
