Read the spoilers, if you wish, in this week's column.

Wow.

a) Go read Shadow of the Bat #1 - 4. Good story, somewhat similar.

b) Terrible, terrible idea! Maybe he can be framed for a murder before being incarcerated - that hasn't happened recently ...

c) I hope my only Bat-book, Legends of the Dark Knight, is not cancelled and does not participate in the madness!

All I have to say is...holy crap! Excellent use of the one-year gap.

What - again?

He's the only one I could see being Batman...
Other than Bruce of course

Hate to be a doomsayer

But sounds like a bad idea. Though this whole Let take a dump on bruce wayner thing was due to take him down and build him up...turns out that not the case

namely sense it turns out the REASON he was acting a little more jerky then normaly was just to build his downfall

I was a little underwhelmed at this revelation. Hopefully they will find an interesting angle on it though.

*scrolls past otehr posts* Gosh dammit. Why did I start scrolling over that spoiler in the coulmn. It was like the big red launch button. I knew I shouldn't but I did anyway. I saw something about Batman Arkham and as soon as I saw Nightwing I stopped.

That sounds like a really bad idea that I won't be interested in reading.... unless it's Morrison writing about it on Detective.

Bruce Wayne in Arkham... gee... how are they going to dump on Batman after that? Maybe they'll have him kill the Joker and take his place. That'd really add some good opportunities for drama wouldn't it?

I was hoping the Bat-mythos would be restored to something heroic after Infinite Crisis. Oh well.

What I'm really afraid of is that they're going to make it that Bruce is really unhinged. My worst fear would be...

"I'm the world's greatest detective, my mind makes me the most dangerous man on earth, I'm brilliant! They did it. They took 10 minutes from my mind. I can't trust anyone anymore. I can't trust myself anymore. I don't know what to trust. Clark, why didn't you help me? Dick take the mantle. I can't handle it anymore. Dick help me. Alfred help me! Mommy! Daddy!"

If they throw him in unjustly, then it's just a retread of Bruce Wayne:Murderer. If they make him honestly needing the incarceration, it'll be even worse in my opinion and I really don't want to read it.

It must be great to be able to hate stories before you can read them! I guess I could hate more stuff if I really tried, and then could spend the time I would've spent reading it by complaining about it on the Internet.

It is - being able to accurately predict what I will like or dislike lets me be selective in what I buy, and lets me get the maximum enjoyment out of the small amount of leisure time I have.

Had this announced an arc that I want to read - for example, the Bat-family healing their various wounds, Batman reverting to his friendly, father-figure role and the team acting as a team and perhaps doing some detecting - then I'd be posting happy thoughts and buying a lot more comics.

I find a great deal of irony in someone who posts on a comic book message board bashing someone else on said board for wasting time. Thanks for that.

Want something positive? I predict that the new Catwoman run will be worth reading, and that Manhunter will continue to be the best comic coming out each month. I have great confidence in the creators of those two books and look forward to them each and every month.

I will have to say we will have to wait. People tend to forget that Bruce Wayne is NUTS. In real life he would more than likely be locked up or atleast placed on medication. Also we are not sure of the events that will have caused this as well. Its been a rough year for ole bats and it may have taken its toll.

Cool - can you tell me what you hate about next week's winning lottery numbers then? I'll cut you in on the action, of course.

You still have yet to reveal where you get your future-seeing powers from. Come on, don't be so secretive!

Is this a hint? If I become really, really, astonshingly stupid to the point where I don't even know what irony actually is, will I gain powers such as yours?

I'd still rather have the winning lottery numbers, thanks. Preferably without having to bash myself in the head to lower my IQ enough so that I can pat myself on the back for saying really stupid things and ending them with "thanks for that."

well this idea doesn't sound all that appealing and alot like stuff that's already been done before, the opening arc of Shadow of the Bat, Prodigal and Murderer/Fugitive. still i haven't read the story yet and there's a good chance that they'll do something fresh and interesting with it.

aside from the been there done that feel of this it also is really stretching the credibility of Batman's alter ego of playboy billionaire.

Ok, I read the first few posts of this thread and uttered a fairly audible "WHAT?!" I went looking for the column in question but couldn't find any mention of Nightwing becoming Batman. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
