User name changes thread

Now and then, a user wishes to have his or her User/account name changed. This is fine.
The purpose of this thread is for those that want their username's changed to post here with their request - it's just a lot more organised than Private Messages.

Please note, however, that the current Forums Guidelines on this matter are still in effect. For those that need a reminder;
we will only change your handle for you if it's from a handle to a real name or at least something that resembles a real name. Why? Because we like seeing real names on our forums. Handles are fun for a time, but sometime's it just hard to respond to someone or take someone seriously who has a handle like "Comic Boy Man From Mars." We encourage the use of real names.

The chances of getting a Handle changed unless it is to a real name is pretty slim, so please do not request it unless there are some unique circumstances involved.

First, thanks for merging my accounts (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?p=1960796#post1960796). There's one small problem, though. When the accounts were merged, my password was changed, along with my current e-mail address.

Switching to your real name should only be done if you really are sure you want to keep that name forever.

This thread is for those people who wish to change their existing user names to their real names, preferrably (but not necessarily) in the following formats;
First name (don't be surprised if name is already taken though).
First name, last name.
First initial, last name.
First name, last initial.
Other combinations/arrangements may be fine, on a case by case basis.

Changes to comic book names probably will not happen, nor will names normally be changed back once edited. Also, changes may take a while to happen - I tend to look at this thread only when I have a spare few minutes. As always, Administrator discretion applies and we may simply decline to make any changes as we see fit.

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to imply here, but my name is Maureen, and I've gone by "Mo" for years. My last name begins with an "S" - I'd rather not use my full last name, as it's a rather unique one and it makes me a little too easy to find.

As stated at the start of this thread, user name changes will only occur if the name requested resembles a real name - either in a first name and/or family name basis.

For example:
Joe Citizen, Joe, or Joe C. is great.
Jojo the Monkey isn't, neither is anything else that doesn't resemble a real name.

In your specific case, you could try for Mo S., Maureen, Maureen S. or something similar.

It has since come to my attention that 'Brian Fellow' is not a real name and is actually a character from a TV Show. Now I know that it is already taken, but when I looked at the members profile, he joined on 05-05-2006, he posted once and actually hasn't been online since that same day. That means he hasn't used the account for over 11 months which obviously means he isn't ever going to use it again.

Nope. If a name is taken, it is taken no matter how long the account has been out of use.

A person took their time to sign up for the account. We can not take a chance that the person will not come back and want to use their account again. We have had people show up at CBR after months even years of being away.

Plus it is just a name. You can still go by Aaron. You just have to have a modifier at the end such as your last initial

Also, keep in mind that this is a service that the mod gods do as a courtesy. They don't have to do it at all. Either way, I don't know how not being allowed to change your user name to one specific iteration of your real name could be considered "incredibly pathetic".

I suppose this is the most appropriate place to post this and it may be a dumb question, but exactly how do some people have their names showing up in different colors? It seems administrators have green, but some have red and I've found no connection between the users I've seen that do. I'm just curious, that's all. If anyone could help in figuring this out I'd greatly appreciate it.
