Barbara's illness

I read the Omac tie-in issue in which Barbara is stricken with the illness. The way it is handled in the latest BOP is that she has had this for a while and has simply become active again.....or something.

Can someone give me some history on this?

The illness she has was left behind from her battle with Brainiac. She thought that she defeated him but the growth left behind was the true objective. It's been effecting her for some time now.

Birds of Prey #69-73. Brainiac attempted to possess Barbara. The attempt failed, but he left behind the infection that's been killing her.
