Kafka?

in "Monsters of Rot" storyline, Batman refers to the mass of roaches he and Tarantula meet up with as "Kafka". I've never seen this character before Can anyone help me out with this?

I haven't read that story, but I'm guessing Batman is making a literary allusion. Franz Kafka wrote a short story call "Metamorphosis" in which a man wakes up one morning to discover he has turned into a bug. I'm pretty sure Batman was simply alluding to this story.

The Kafka character first appeared in Gotham Knights #22, a tie-in to the "Joker: Last Laugh" crossover. As mentioned above, his name alludes to the author of "The Metamorphosis."
