Like the title said... or is he filling in for Benes? I hadn't heard either way.
Gail? You out there? Can you give the inside scoop?

He is. Benes is the artist on Superman now.

Thanks!
I thought Benes was guesting on Supes. I'd rather him draw hot women than a muscular guy... but since I get both books anyway I get to enjoy his art.
Joe's good though!
What else has be done? He draws some sexy women too!

We still get to see Benes draw a smoking hot Lois!!
Isn't Bennett doing Wraithborn, too?

Joe Bennet is currently also the regular artist on Hawkman, I believe.
He did a few issues of Cap & Falcon and was one of Marvel's go-to sub artists in the 90s, especially on a lot of Spidey work.
I didn't like Bennett at first because his style seemed too close to Benes'. But, in this week's BoP issue, he seems to be going back to his own style and the art is much, much better for it.

I noticed the same thing in the last two issues. I welcome it.
I think he changed his style on BoP originally so the artist change would be less obvious, right?

I'm new to Benes, but his work on Superman is looking good.

Benes is a great and underappreciated artist. For a long time he was thought of as a clone of Mike Dedato... though I never thought so.
He draws some sexy women!
Bennett isn't bad at all. I am not really familiar with him but hopefully being on a Batbook will raise his profile. Same ith Benes now that he's on Superman! It doesn't get any better than that! And I like his Superman (so far) better than Jim Lee's.

I had dropped BOP for a while, but starting picking it up again when Bennett took over. IMO, Bennett is a much, much better artist than Benes, whom I don't care much for at all. If I have to look at his stuff, I'd much rather see it on Superman than a book like BOP, as I hate the way he draws women. Bennett's women look sexy, Benes' women simply look slutty.

He actually was one of Deodato's clones back in the early/mid 90s, when Deodato had all kinds of artists mimicking his art style for him, and releasing it with his name.

This kind of stuff actually happens?

... really?
I knew he was COMPARED to him and all... but didn't know he was working under Deodato like that! Hmm.

I've heard of the MAIN artist on a title draw the MAIN parts of the panels but then have back ground artists fill in the rest.

I thought this was very common knowledge.....IIRC, Roger Cruz, Emir Ribeiro & Luke Ross were some more of the Deodato clones. This was at a time when Deodato was supposedly drawing like 8 - 10 books a month. He was working for Liefeld AND Marvel. Liefeld found out about it, filed suit for him not doing the actual work that he was contracted to do, and won the lawsuit. It turned out that Deodato wasn't even paying these guys 1/3 of what he was being paid. Shorlty after Liefeld found out about this, he hired almost all of the clones. To this day, if Deodato "plants roots" in California, Rob can have anything that Deodato owns (up to the value of the lawsuit settlement) seized.

Wow, I didn't know any of that was going on. Truthfully, I always thought Cruz and Ross were more Madueria clones, since they subbed a lot of X-Mens while he was the artist.
I wonder how much art with the name "Mark Silvestri" was actually drawn by David Finch or Anthony Winn? :D
