......................A X-Men comic book, that is under the MAX imprint? I know we have NYX, but I am talking about a MAX comic with X-Men members in it. It would be a take on the X-Men much like the Ultimate X-Men is, except with adult X-Men, in rated R situations.

Probably. I'd me more concerned about the actual story and the quality of the artwork than R rated situations.

Some full frontal nudity of Hank McCoy and Kurt Wagner wouldn't hurt either.

Depends. That fact that is is MAX doens't really bother me, I'd just judge it like any other book (art, story, etc.)

Like the others: depends upon the writer/artist. If they go for shock-value, no thanks. If they use the Max-imprint to tell stories that go beyond nude X-men, then I'm all for it.

I'd give it a chance, to see if I liked what they were doing with it. If they go for "God Loves, Man Kills", I'm all over it. If it's just "ooh, boobies and swearing!" then I'd drop it quickly.

Well, maybe I'd stay if it were certain characters nude... tastefully so, of course.

depends on who writes it.

Would it be adult in tone? Or adult only in content?

Isn't Emma Frost already basically nude in the comics?

depends on the premise/characters involved. i only buy titles i would enjoy reading, regardless of the label.
darick wanted the relaunch of wolverine (with rucka) to be a max title called logan, but marvel wanted the title to remain open to everyone (reasonably so, considering wolverine's $$$$ draw). i would have bought that, for example. just to give a little more leeway to a book about a killing machine.

Wolverine really shouldnt be a killing machine....not to say he shouldnt kill tons and tons of people...but he shouldnt feel great about it.

I think at this point I would not. Not because it would be an R-rated X-Men book but because there are all ready too many X-Men related books on the scene. Having a book expressly for the purpose to see a more adult take on the X-Men would only result in a glut of more specified books. i.e. let's have a book with a politcal take, let's have a book featuring origins, let's have a book featuring Xavier's weird sexual tastes..ad naseum.

MAX books really aren't my cup of tea. It would have to be really well-written for me to even consider picking it up. Like others said, if it's just an excuse to show naked X-Men, then forget it.

NYX is a MAX book? I guess its been so long sense I read it, I quit careing.

A MAX X book, it all depends on what its about. If its just for shock value and has no point, Ill drop it. I can see t&a elseware.

I'm the same here

Unless it was a very specific concept that makes sense for the MAX line, no.

Need you even ask? :D

That said I did find an issue of a Phoenix themed MAX book. Didn't really like it, it was only loosely connected to anything X-ish by a vague mention of the Shadow King and the T&A wasn't drawn well enough/wasn't explicit enough to forsake the story and enjoy it just pornwise. :(

I remember that. Also had a very familiar loking demon called "Darkchilde" try and seduce Jean and Maddie. Fanservice for everyone!

It was issue 2 of 3 so in the other two parts was there anything that tied it in any better with the X-verse?

Not really. Just some weird mystic/fantasy stuff with tons of fanservice.

Damn. Know of any that actually features the X-peeps or indeed actually has something to do with the actual X-verse?

Basically the Marvel Knights imprint covers the more adult stories and situations better than MAX does and should suffice for the X-titles.

Its funny you bring this topic up, cause i've been thinking about an X-MAX title for the last month and a half. I would definitely buy it if it was done right, not being graphic just for the sake of being graphic.

With that being said I've also come up with some ideas for what it should be about too. IF they were to launch it, it should be non-cannon and in a world similar to the ultimate situation because you could really add drama from the beginning. My reasoning for this is the fact that the title should be based more on the idea of the ramifications of using their powers for good. I honestly would love the chance to write that book, i have many ideas for this situation and i have every intent to try and get into the buisness both as a penciler and at least co-plotter if not writer.

so i'll give you a little pitch here on character ideas for it: take collossus, my favorite comic character of all time, the man's a wall of force and almost unharmable so what ramifications can come of this? Well, lets take a look at the physics involved. Mike Tyson as a homo sapien has the strength to break an average mans neck by punching him, consider ole Petey here who can lift over 100 tons and has a fist made of solid steel. Now, take into account that technically anyone with super-strength should also have extremely hard bones compared to anyone else, if not their hands and arm would shatter when they punched something or someone, so if Piotr punched someone in the face full force and they didn't have the benefit of stronger bones their head would literally splatter and be non existant. So heres the pitch: in his first mission as an X-man, Collossus, not realizing his own strength, does just as i described, throws a hard punch and just explodes someones head. From this he has to deal with the fact that he killed someone by accident because they couldn't take the force of the blow, which makes it much harder to deal with because it was an accident and not intentional. So Peter withdraws and questions whether he should carry on as a hero because he may do this again and thats not what a hero should do, so yadda yadda yadda the story goes on, the other x-men convince him to stay and he begins to learn how to handle his own strength when it comes to those physically weaker than him, along with having to deal with the "accident" and over the course of the series learns his limits.

There are a lot of these types of situations that could be explored with each character, and thats basically what i think would make an excellent MAX X-Men.

If the story had a reason for the rating, then i'd probably buy it. But it'll never happen. MAX will never seen characters like X-Men, FF and Spidey because the movies have expanded their audience so much. Most of the people who enjoy those characters are underage, and Marvel probably wouldn't put out a book that the majority of their readership would be unable to buy.
