I don't know if someone ever made a thread like this before, but post your favorite RPG moments ever. What are your favorite moments in a game? Also what are your favorite personal memories that you remember?(for example maybe a sleepover you had at a friend's house where you played an RPG all night). It can be trying for hours to get an item. Any RPG moments and memories you have.

Here are some of my favorite RPG moments:

Final Fantasy VII:

When Aeris died was a great memory. I hated Aeris and loved Sephiroth. very memorable for me and made the story unexpected.

Star Wars:KOTOR

When it was revealed that the main character that I was playing is a Sith Lord.

Hmm... There are some good moments there.

I have to with Super Mario RPG, where you find out that Smithy is a freak!

The all time high point in my RPG career was playing the Aliens role playing game. We had a story set just before movie two, with a "routine" stop-off at the planet that-lo and behold-was to be overrun during "ALIENS". A series of bad dice rolls and catastrophic events left my character piloting a dropship near the colony in question, the rest of our team having been already eaten by aliens (little to my knowledge) while i hovered patiently waiting to pick them up. Due to another unfortunate incident ("ok for the sake of them all being dead, im going to roll a 5% chance that your engines malfunction, and we can go eat chips and watch the movie with everyone else). he rolls a 04. I plead possibilities-there must be a piloting skill roll to still land this puppy "ok you have a 10% chance of being able to keep it from exploding on malfunction" <click click> 03. YAY now for a piloting check to try to get it on the ground. "you have a 70 percent chance of being able to fly it to a landable position. <click click> 76. oh crap imma die. alright, now there's a 15% chance that the dropship will explode mid-air. <click click> 15. ok, im dead. dont suppose you wanna give me a 2 percent chance of surviving the explosion to free fall to the planet surface? "ok 2 percent seems fair" <click click> 01. somehow, highly mangled i was able to survive the explosion and have a mere 5,000 feet to ground. yay. Ok, we'll let you have a 5% chance of surviving the fall without mortal injuries. <click click> 03 "so i bounce?" "you bounce". go watch movie? go watch movie.

Yowza!

In Final Fantasy X, when it's revealed that the Maestor wants to plunge the world in to death. This turned the game around for me.

In Final Fantasy 3/6 jp, when Kefka kills General Leo, opens the gates to the other world, and collects the life force of the espers!

In Kingdom Hearts, fighting that BIG ASS Chernobog!

In Panzer Dragoon Saga (best rpg ever!), when Edge first speaks with and battles Azel and her beast of a dragon, Atolm!

Not to mention the feeling you get, watching your castle and party members grow in the first two Suikodens! (let's not talk about the last two  )

And last but not least, every second of Chrono Trigger is engrained on my brain. :D There's too many great moments to list.

I have 2 from Xenosaga: Episode I:

- When KOS-MOS awakens and saves Shion from the Gnosis by blasting a hole through the wall.
- When KOS-MOS turns "angelic" at the end of the game and saves the Elsa and crew from an atmosphere entrance.

Final Fantasy 3:

- At Figaro castle when your team jumps off the castle and onto the Chocobo's as the castle submerges into the sand. Kefka is left eating dust.

Final fantasy 3/6 -

The entire Opera part. From switching Celes into it and Setzer sweeping in after the big fight with the Octopus.

D20 Modern.

I was near death anyway, and we were fighting on the rooftops.

I Grabbed the Badguy. Took him to the ledge. Jumped off and rode him down to our Demise.

I love RPG's.

Neverwinter Nights: The battle with Aribeth, the friend turned betrayer. A betrayer who, for once, had a pretty damn good reason for turning evil.

Summoner 2: When you step through into the Dream of Eleh and Joseph from Summoner1 treats you to one of the most cool philsophical discourses in any RPG I've played.

Deus Ex: When you're in the bar in Hong Kong and JC has an arguement with the bartender about the purpose and philosphical value of government. I was damn surprised, since JC had never uttered a sentence longer than about ten words, prior to that point in the game.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: I'm rather torn. Either it is Revan and Bastila's kiss on the Ebon Hawk or the final battle at the Star Forge.

The Gas Station Rescue in Deus Ex is about the damn most intense stages in a game I've ever seen. One false slip and the hostage dies, and your mission is a failure. You still go on to the next stage... but man, do you feel guilty about not saving the daughter.

FFIV: -After being forced to kill his own twisted half-dead parents Edge proclaims he'll show Rubicant "the power of ANGER!!!" promptly gets a 3 blits powerup and whomps his ass into last wednesday.

-Golbez has completely immobilized the heroes and summons a creature who kills them with a horrible death attack one by one. Suddenly help comes from an unseen quarter and in storms Rydia, fully grown to summoning mastery.

Suikoden II: After 2 hours or so of game-time (including a pitched full-scale battle, several furious skirmishes, a full on arrow barrage and a one on one duel) Lucca Blight meets his end.

On the subject of KOTOR and great moments, the entire part of the game from the moment you choose to turn to the Darkside until you reach the Star Forge was pure magic as far as I'm concerned. First, facing off against Jolee and Juhani; then the scenes at the beach, with the sheer cruelty of the Zaalbar/Mission thing. Finally, the cutscene where Bastila tricks the Republic is just beautifully executed, both in voice acting and the animation itself, from the subtle glances and facial expressions of Revan and Bastila, the use of shadow and so on.

Planescape: Torment and Chrono Trigger are two other games with huge amounts of excellent moments, probably too many to count. NWN had a lot of good moments for me as well, but not in the main campaign, mostly on online play.

FFIX:

The Black Mages protecting Vivi from Black Waltz #3.
Odin, Atomos, Bahamut and Alexander. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you haven't played the game.
Zidane's berserk charge to fight Garland, with his friends trying their hardest to join in.
And of course, Kuja going Trance and nuking Terra.

When Aeris died was a great memory. I hated Aeris and loved Sephiroth. very memorable for me and made the story unexpected.

Hee! I thought I was the only one who hated Aeris too.
My little brother (who was too young to play but would watch me play and was equally engrossed in the story) was shocked and cried though, so it took away from the moment for me.

Locke & Celes at the Opera in Final Fantasy III (US Version)

Lemme just take a second to wipe my memory from all the mistakenly read spoilers I just read.

....zebras, zebras, zebras.....

Okay, FFIX, Zidane and Vivi taking somewhat of a piss off of the wall.

And Chrono Trigger, when Robo's brothers beat him up. First time I was on the verge of tears playing a video game.

Morrowind:
Well, I saw it coming, but Dagoth Gares confirmed my theory.
And the rest of the game. Magic. Pure magic. Can't wait for Oblivion!

TOS:
Again, the whole game.

Oh, Guy four posts before me, What is that for your avatar? Kamen Rider or something? No offense meant.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic: I've got to agree, the Revelation on the Leviathan is a very well done moment in RPG history. I think it actually beats out, "I am your father!"

Cecil becoming a Paladin in FF4.

Kefka destroying the world in FF6.

The revelation in FFX that Tidus is really a dream.

Donald and Goofy defying their orders to stick with the owner of the Keyblade for the sake of their friendship with Sora.

Planescape:Torment. Lots of memorable moments, like the opening movie and the ending. And when you remember how you proved a person doesn't exist mathematically... badass.

Fallout was great too, when the vault 13 leaders tells you off and you shoot him apart.

Disgaea:

1. The chapter dealing with the Prinnies, the Red Moon, reincarnation, and Laharl's mother.

2. The scenes following the attack on Thursday by the original Defender of Earth. The strength of the Earth trio's comraderie shines.

3. Lamington's judgement of Flonne, and the group's reaction. Etna straight out threatens the most powerful being in Celestia with bodily harm, and Laharl...does much more than that.

La Pucelle:

1. The backstory of the game's first dungeon. A remnant of a long forgotten kingdom. Jealousy and hate so strong it endured centuries.

2. The ascension of the Dark Prince.

3. Father Salade destroying a demon lord with a single blow. Everyone, even the all-powerful villains, do a double-take.

Sigh, now if only they could do another game even close to the greatness of Disgea. Of course, it's hard to top Etna's "Next Episode" bits.

Father Salade was the man. A perv, but still, the man.

Anyway, I nominate when one of the characters in the original Wild Arms cuts his own arm off to escape from a boss.

Similarly, the "Butch and Sundance" moment towards the end of Wild Arms 3.

Dungeon Siege, when you find out that the power you're fighting is not the evil, dark, demonic overlord Elder God that you thought it was, and that in fact the Bad Guys have pretty damn justifiable reasons for doing what they're doing, because the "Good Guys" wronged them first.

But you have to kill them anyway, even though they're probably in the right, because if you don't it'll be the end of last human kingdom. Then the theme music starts playing, and you storm the last Dungeon.

(I also liked that the last chapter is the actual Dungeon Siege which the game is named after.)

That scene is still amazing to see in Alter Code:F.

Speaking of Wild rms...

When a certain character stops a chain reaction towards the end of the game.

Ah, I checked out Alter COde F, I'm disappointed they took out the great animated intro of the original.

Well the game does still have an animated intro, it just doesn't use the exact same sequence as the one used in the original version of the game (although it does use the original music though).

I think I saw it. The music was muted and the intro no where near as cool.

Skies of Arcadia: The first time you fight Ramirez. And earlier in the game, the first Gigas fight and having to fight Belleza immediately afterward.

Baldurs Gate II - any dialogue involving Minsc and Boo. Minsc's reactions to your other characters under certain situations are priceless: like when Edwin gets a sex change or when Jan tries to steal Boo.

Skies of Arcadia: The first time you fight Ramirez. And earlier in the game, the first Gigas fight and having to fight Belleza immediately afterward.

That game had so many great moments and you can pick just one?

Anytime a Character uses their signature move-especaily Ramirez lunar eclipse.

The appearance of any Gigas and the fight which follows. (Remember when Bluhiem defeated the entire Valuan fleet with one sweep? Awesome!)

The time when Vyse breaks into Valua to rescue his family and Fina not once, but twice. The second time,he steals the Delphinus. That was one awsome ship!

Theres just too many to list!

Grandia II had a lot of moments too,but the one that was the shocker was what the Pope at the cathedral knew about Granas and Valmar...

KOTOR, the entire game, really.

KOTOR 2, when you first encounter Darth Sion on the ship, and Kreia stops to delay him.

City of Villains, the fortunata's story arc around lvl 15.
You actually /meet/ and /talk/ to Ghost Widow! This blew me away in the context of having played City of Heroes up to lvl 22, where you don't even come close to ever contacting the "name" heroes in solo play.

And in tabletop gaming.

In D&D 3.5, playing a human evoker/acolyte of the skin. The entire group itself was somewhat...unscrupulous, and passage of time was measured by a particular powergamer player's using a different character every other setting. (He was trying everything he could that would give him a character to match the magic heavy unofficial leaders of the group, myself, and a female somethingerother sorceror.) My characters plan, since he beleived he was contacted by Asmodeous himself, was to use a GM created artifact we were hunting to free him from wherever he was imprisoned to garner his favor. Sadly, things came to an end when the GM revealed he never really meant for us to find the artifact after about 4 months of side-quests and misdirection. (The year long campaign was built around finding the damn thing. Other players intended to use it for other things, I was just excited about my plan.)

FINAL FANTASY III: Kraken shooting and killing Elia. It was sad, but at the same time, I was like OMFG IT'S KRAKEN! AWESOME!

FINAL FANTASY IV: Seeing Calcobrena twirl and dance around with the most ADORABLE music ever.

FINAL FANTASY V: Halicarnassus' scene, what a flaming queen, I swear...I love 'em.

FINAL FANTASY VI: Cid's death, god that was the first time I bawled during an SNES game. Also, fighting Ultros in the waterfall...that was fun.

FINAL FANTASY VII: Climbing the snow mountain sticks out in my mind, and also crossdressing to get into Don Corneo's mansion.

FINAL FANTASY VIII: When Raijin and Fujin turn on Seifer, and also the ending with Laguna and Raine (I get misty-eyed every time).

FINAL FANTASY IX: Queen Brahne's death (which I found ten times sadder than Aeris'), and also seeing the Four Fiends from Final Fantasy I again.

FINAL FANTASY X: The first time you meet Dona. What a bitch...it's great.

KINGDOM HEARTS: Any scene with Ursula, I peed myself. *huge Ursula fan* Her boss battles were fabulous, too. "Not very tasty!"

ROMANCING SAGA: Fighting Scorn for the first time. He was hard...also, meeting Herman. He's a laugh-riot.

CHRONO TRIGGER: When Lucca has to save her mother Lara from the machine she got her dress caught in...really tragic to find out the reason Lucca is always trying to create new things.

CHRONO CROSS: When the three young kids from CT were walking around creepily in the dream world with Serge's father (I think). Also, any time you fight a Tragedienne.

LUNAR: SILVER STAR STORY: When the three witches reveal themselves, and also the shower scene with a face-full of Kyle's ass.

SHADOW HEARTS: COVENANT: When Yuri and Roger Bacon's attempts at bringing back Alice fail (I fuggin' BAWL every time), and the ending also makes me weep like a baby. This game was so good at making you laugh your ass off one second and then have your heart broken while sobbing like you just lost your only child the next.

RADIATA STORIES: Rolec. I f'ing love Rolec. And Gene. They need to do each other.

MARIO RPG: For some reason, the whole cloud world sticks out to me (Mallow's family's kingdom) and fighting Valentina with her jigglies was sort of odd. Also, when you first meet the Axem Rangers.

MARIO & LUIGI: When you have to save Peach and guide her to safety...that bitch kept getting snagged every five seconds.

PAPER MARIO 2: Meeting the Shadow Sirens. (NOTE: Any and all scenes from Paper Mario and it's sequel are FANTASTIC, I only picked this because I had to bring the game in somehow).

TALES OF SYMPHONIA: Any time Forcystus appeared. Loved him.

...That's all I can think of off the top of my head...so I guess the others aren't really too memorable. ^_^

My favorite moment of Skies of Arcadia:

1) Peeping on Aika. :D
2) When Galcian drops down on the train and begins to stalk after you. He walks so confidently, I didn't even think of trying to take him on. I knew I had to get Vyse and Aika out of there before he kicked their collective ass.
3) The sheer look of rage and hatred on Vyse's face when Ramirez fires on his lifeboat.
4) The moment Vyse shares with Aika on the lookout post of the hideout.
5) When Baltor himself shows up at Vyse's hideout with the rest of Vyse's friends and declares himself ready to follow you. That shocked the hell out of me.

Favorite memories of KOTOR:

1) When I reveal to the droid that I intend to destroy him and tell his mistress master that he is still wandering around out there to further torment her, and he calls me a "monster".
2) Bastilla and Revan's first kiss.
3) Forcing Z to kill Mission. The sheer horror of this act stands out as one of the most villainous things I've ever seen a villain do. What's worse is the guilt I feel because I know it could never have happened if I hadn't chose it to.
4) Force forcing the woman on Tatooine to give me the trophey her husband had acquired, thus marroning her forever on that desolate world.
5) Any conversation with HK-47. Of particular note of why he calls humans "meatbags".

Favorite memories of other RPG's:
1) The opening sequence of Wild Arms.
2) The ending sequence of Wild Arms II, where it is revealed that the main hero survived the explosion in space.
3) Luna's song on the ship in Lunar: Silver Star Story.
4) When Zophar rises in Lunar: Eternal Blue.
5) Riding Nall to Ghaleon's castle in the sky in Lunar: SSS.
6) When Luna rises Ghaleon's fortress into the sky in Lunar: SSS.
7) When Alex brings Luna back in Lunar: SSS.
8) The evil grin on Fei's face when he first loses control of Weltall in Xenogears. Chilling.
9) The sheer goofiness of the Elemental Girls Gears combining into one large gear ala Voltron in Xenogears. Sheer fun.
10) SUPER DIMENSIONAL FORTRESS YGGDRASIL in Xenogears. Nuf said.
