Agent Zero is the old X-Men character Maverick, a former teammate of Wolverine's from his spy days and a part of the Weapon X program. He was a regular in the WEAPON X series that this new mini spun out of.
Fantomex is a relatively new character from Morrison's NEW X-MEN. He's Weapon XIII. He was created by a super-soldier program related to Weapon X, which is why he made some appearances in the aforementioned WEAPON X series.

yeah, E.V.A.. it/she is actually more powerful than fantomex. for more on E.V.A., read the 'here comes tomorrow' arc of new x-men (151-154).

And if you think this is amazing, his best feat was eating an apple, bananna, raisins, pecans, and some mayo, and then he crapped himself a fruit salad for lunch. Now that's an awesome mutant power.

Fantomex told Wolverine and Agent Zero that EVA was killed in Weapon X: Days of Future Now 1.
just a note.

I might be recalling this incorrectly but is'nt she actually his nervous system? If so that would mean that he would die if she did. Though if he died she could live on.
Huzzah!

Fantomex had the stupidest mutant power ever...Grant Morrison must have been running on fumes when he came up with that idea
"His mutant power is to......is to.......is to have a thing!!!!!!!!!!"

i thought it was a cool idea. someone's nervous system manifesting itself outside of the body and having its own personality.

I think Agent Zero looks much more interesting now, compaired to the 'Marverick' days. This is a character chance I really dig!!

That's nothing: yesterday, I ate two pieces of bread and some lunchmeat. Today I crapped a sandwich.

Thats not really his power. He has all sorts of powers involving body language. Its actually a bit interesting.

Isn't this like Maggot though? Only with the digestive system to a point?

yeah, kind of. fantomex is a product. maggott would have died had not magneto intervened in his mutation process. i think e.v.a. is the stronger part of the relationship, but overall weapon 13 is most definitely a coordinated effort.
edit/ and e.v.a. had much more personality than japeth's slugs. eaany and meany did not talk/display much sentience besides the pilgrimm thing; e.v.a. was shown to be an evolving entity that had a lot of stuff going on for it/her.

I thought Fantomex kicked all kinds of ass back in New X-Men. I've been waiting to see more of him; is there enough of him in Weapon X to warrant me picking it up?
Like someone above said, Fantomex has several powers. He's hardcore with weapons.

he hasnt appeared anywhere else, to my knowledge. i didnt read weapon x and im not reading the current mini, but i think if you need a fantomex fix its the title to check out. about the powers: fantomex is a creation. morrison wanted him purposely to be the gambit/wolverine (mysterious, "cool", resourceful) type in the title. that being said, fantomex is still an mu character, and has been used by others (like tieri). he grew up in the "world". e.v.a. is his primary mutation. his helmet clouds telepathy. he reads body language. he has some special guns (that did shoot skulls or ghosts or something). bottom line, he was meant to be somewhat of a parody character and he generally was, but he has been shown in a more serious light by writers (morrison included).

Fantomex also appeared in the Mystique series towards the end.

What TPB's have good stories with Fantomex?

"Good" is such a subjective term...
I hated the character, so my answer would be "none." However, his earliest appearances are collected in the "Assault on Weapon Plus" trade, I believe.

Ugh. I honestly hope someone brings EVA back with the quickness.
Given that the character's a habitual liar and comes back from the dead all the time, that's certainly a possiblity.

I'd love for Fantomex to hook up with Jean when she returns.

I thought the Fantomex character was a good idea in so far as he seemed to be Morrison's critique of early 90's mysterious-charming-stranger characters. He's a complete rip off of Gambit (which makes the fact that he fakes an accent to be cool that much funnier) and is even mentioned in Morrison's next to last arc as being the archetypical bad ass with a mysterious past in the government created super team he was supposed to be in.
All this being said, I don't think he's supposed to be cool or liked, as the whole point of him seems to be how played out his type is now a days. I find that the trick to enjoying him is to think of him as an over-the-top-to-make-a-point X-Statix character that snuck into the other books and managed to keep a straight face while doing it.
God, I do miss babbling about the good old Morrison days. Sigh.

You bring up a good point. I'd love to see an Allred sketch of Fantomex now...
