I took a subscribtion at Mutopia at my import comic store.
Today I got my first issue and I do not like it at all. How boring can a comic be? Bad job!
I really regret I did take that subscribtion and am happy there will only be five (to take a subcribtion you have to take a subscribtion for at least 5 issues, so you will get a 15% discount)
I am very disappointed in Mutopia

I felt it was cold too...
I mean it was just like District X, only all the roles were reversed. There was nothing fresh or innovating in any of it.
District X was new in that it had mutants trying to cope with powers that weren't sexy, in fact they were downright useless and they still had to go to work in the morning, like everyone else. Plus there was the flawed brilliance of zzy and Bishop portrayed with depth. They were the Briscoe and Logan of Marvel. It was an inspired plot.
Now what? Mutants are in charge. Humans are scum. Ho-hum.

and there are no other interesting or known characters besides Ismael (do not like this guy anyway) and Bishop. For this story-line they should have added some known characters in it, besides Lucas.

i passed on this series. district x lost steam right around issue 6, and collecting it until issue 14 was enough for me. its a safe bet the house of m tie-in brought in maybe 15,000-20,000 readers, but i doubt they will stick around for the next few issues.

Definitely agree with everything said above. Sooo boring. The only reason I was picking this up is because I thought it might involve Madrox at some point. Still dunno if it will, but I don't think it's worth it anymore ... but I *might* give it another ish to be fair.

I HOPE THERES SOME MADROX GOING DOWN!
Well i am going to be the first to disagree with ALL of you. I really quite enjoyed the story, its pretty fresh. I like the role Bishop plays in the 'House of M(essed up world)'.
I must admit this comes close to last out of all the tie-ins so far (along with uncanny). best tie-ins are Hulk and FF.
but i think i will stick with this!

Yeah, this was definately the weakest House of M book yet.
Sadly it picked up in the boring vein that District X left off in before it got M-ified.
I honestly don't see this book getting any better in the remaining 4 issues. Or even why it should be lasting that many.
Put a lame horse down.

This is suppose to lead into the X-Factor series apprently the events in this series lead to the creation of the X-Factor and it takes palce in District X.

I just picked this up to read the arc because Utopia just hit in Dark Reign, and this seems to fit with that theme. Does anybody know who this Ismael character is. This is my first intoduction to District X so he is out of the blue. He sounds like a powerless Madrox, and just as disfunctional. He must be dead after this arc, because we never hear of him again after HoM, do we?

Actually, there is no connection between mutopia and the current utopia storyline.
mutopia was just the way the "district x" series was renamed during the House of M storyline, just like ongoing series were renamed for six months during the age of apocalypse storyline (like excalibur becoming X-caliber). So everything that happens during mutopia only happens in the house of m parrallel reality.
distric X was a series about poilce enforcement in a mutant district. Ismael and Bishop were the two main protagonists. In the mutopia storyline, the district x, instead of being a mutant ghetto, was some sort of mutant capital.hence the title.
i don't remember what happens of ismal at the end, but he doesn't die (he's struck by a family tragedy, but i don't want to say too much, if you intend to read it, which you shouldn't...)
As to know if he was ever seen again, i have no idea.

I thought this series was awesome,a thoroughly modern interpretation of the mutant situation......it was moving in many ways....Read it if you're into X-books

One thing about the end of this series still confuses me.
It's the death of the cops daughter.
Basicly she dies from a wound she got in the House of M world and Mister M who had allready saved her life from a deadly wound once, can't save her because it's to late.
Sure this would be okay if not for one fact.
She is the only god damn person who suffers from a wound she recived in House of M!
Sabertooth got his head chopped off in the Black Panther one, Mimic and Bucky get killed in "origin" one (the recent one showing how the whole thing actualy started) and i thinks some other known characters also bit the dust in that world.
This little detail just shows again that the writers of the Decimation and House of M tie ins didn't talked much about the after effects, except that a lot of mutants have to lose their powers.

I had been away from the X-books for a number of years and got a large shipment of comics to catch up......I still haven't read most of them!....But District X caught my eye and I read that first and then Utopia so I wasn't really compltely clued in with the Decimation stuff at the time....I just remember that she was a good kid and her death was awful.

No, I know. Thanks for the rundown on the story. What I connected was a statement made by one mutant in Utopia, saying that San Fran was supposed to be the mutant Utopia. Reading what would actually happen in a mutant Utopia was interesting, because it showed the mutant religion if you may, with a Catholic type of Confirmation ceremony for coming of age of mutants, which was very pleasing. (Shame about the shot. Just shows that little brothers can be a pain. And also that you can't fight destiny. HoM or not, little Chammy had died before HoM and she was dead after HoM). It just showed what one writer (Hine) thought it would be like if there was a Utopia for mutants. Bucky and Popova would always be the sapien terrorists no matter how idyllic the mutants dreamland was made. Funny, that. Wanda made everyone in HoM have their hearts desire except Sapiens, who could just about do what they liked and kill mutants. Why, if Wanda had this kind of control in her world, would she allow Hawkeye to shoot her with an arrow, Bucky attempt to kill Magneto, and Popova blow up mutants?
