........To have an X-Men complaint thread? I know Cronin has to approve it, but it would be a good thread to have to be able to complain about the X-Men's writers, artists, editors, characters, etc...........without having to clutter up and get off topic in all of the other threads around here. So yes or no?

Isn't there enough negativity on the board without a specific thread devoted to it?

That's my point. For those who hate negative posts, you can avoid the complaint thread. And for complainers, guys like myself and fishtaco, it would be a good thread to vent in without turning another started thread into a gripe fest.

It's a good idea in theory -- a thread I could avoid like the plague, with a corresponding decrease in the amount of whining on the rest of the board -- but would it work in practice? Or would people just take their bitching to two different places at once?

I agree, if thats the only thread where people can say: I don't like Claremont, I hate X-23, I'm not impressed by HoM, Gambit and Rogue should split-up, Uncanny sucks, etc etc. Because in soooo many threads you here the same complains over and over again.

That's my complain LOL

And you have a valid one. I, along with other posters around here gripe and complain in threads all of the time. It would give us a forum to vent in without upsetting the peace makers and non gripers, because they can avoid it like the plague.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not a peacemaker and a complain is not wrong, but reading the same complaints over and over again, sometimes makes me wonder why some even read the X comics if they have so much they don't like. I'm not avoiding complaints, I just get a bit tired of hearing the same ones. But hey, who am I??

Exactly :D . Every time you read your copy of Uncanny X-Men, and get mad about the moron editors on the letters pages, instead of complaning about it on the Uncanny review and spoilers thread, Go to the complaint thread to vent ;) .

In theory, it's a sound idea. The only problem is that the thread would continually fall to the back because a good number of posters would avoid the thread. You could try to bump it back to the front every now and then, but people who want to complain in another thread will still continue to do it regardless.

I don't think there's really a reason to create a rant thread. It's not the complaining that's the problem, but that most posters who complain don't do it creatively or in a way that encourages new discussion. Take your original post quoted above as an example; between the lines, you're complaining about the complaining on the board. But you've put your complaint in a way that has encouraged others to say how they feel in a non-flamey way. Atoningunifex is another poster who knows how to complain creatively. It's all in how you word it.

I like the idea. You can just label your gripe. Like for fishtaco since Astonishing #11 is coming out soon he can come here and do his thing in here and we can leave the thread devoted to that issue to discuss the story.

It's a fair suggestion, but really, the "No comparing creators" thing is already close enough to the line.

To say that people can't voice their displeasure with a comic period just seems too far over the line.

To say that you have to come up with a different reason than 'It isn't as good as Creator X/It is much better than Creator X" is a limit upon your ability to voice whatever you want, but ultimately, it is just a focusing of your views (for if you can't come up with a reason why you liked/disliked something other than "It wasn't as good/It wasn't as bad as Creator Y," then you just aren't thinking hard enough).

Telling people they just can't express negative opinions in discussion threads?

Too far.

But I appreciate the thought.
