Does anybody remember this "time traveller" malarky from a couple of years ago? It was a rather "cult" internet phenomena at the time, and some of his "predictions" have proved at least semi-accurate (BSE etc). His main shtick was that he was from a dystopian future, where Russia intervened in a US civil war by nuking the cities, and he was sent back to obtain a very specific type of computer (because linux suffers an almost Y2K type thing in his future). Anyways, I don't believe him for a minute but it's quite fascinating.
(here's a refresher course for those of you who forgot)

He appeared in late 2000/early 2001 and posted loads of stuff on a message board. These postings have pretty much achieved cult status.
I personally remember catching the tail end of his postings, just before he (ahem) went back to the future.

Man, if we're gonna get a civil war going this year, we better get on the stick...
EDIT: Thank god I'm armed and have the second amendment behind me...

Yeah, I remember that guy, pretty neat stuff.
I thought that he came back for whales, no wait, that was Captain Kirk.

I remember being sort of amused by how eerily prescient his predictions about the 2004 election were. I mean, it doesn't prove he's a time traveller or anything, but good call, dude.

Save it, he is back in the future now.

Can someone use the wayback machine and find his ramblings ?

Heh, I know. I'm a huge geek for the paranormal, fringe science, etc. I don't believe most of it, but I'm quite an avid reader anyway. I've read all of Titor's stuff.
He's created a totally non-falsifiable story, of course. His time machine, he said, used what I like to call Gruenwald-effect time travel (because I'm a tremendous nerd), which is to say that the act of travelling to the past in and of itself changed history and created a new timeline, in which we live. He commented that things have already begun to take a different course than in his history in minor ways -- different sports teams winning games, and such.
So if there's no civil war this year, we can thank John Titor, time traveller.

They've all been archived on the site linked in the first post.

I wonder if the Steelers would have went to the Super Bowl if it weren't for that Motherf*cker's meddling?
Damn the future, I want that Fifth Ring!

Don't worry. The Patriots are in decline, and the Steelers will only improve as Big Ben gains in experience and maturity.
Though they'd better act fast, they only have a few years before the beginning of the Bills dynasty, the greatest dynasty in sports hahaha even I couldn't keep a straight face on that one. *sob*

I saw a pretty cool show about sam wyche the other day on the NFL Channel.
He's back QB coaching the bills now.
He used to really irritate me when he coached the bengals, but time has softened me up on him I guess.

Nuclear War would be an acceptable price to pay for the Lombadi back in the 'burgh.

I'm just wondering why would the Russians come down on the side of the rural townsfolk as opposed to the city dwellers?

I find It really humerous that a guy would travel back nearly 40 years to just go online and post On the Internet. I mean...you can save humanity but going on the World Wide Web must trump that. Thus far reading his Time Travel background.... ;)

The reason he comes to our past is to save his future. It's all about Linux ya' see.

For the record, I'm reserving the rights to a John Titor movie with the tagline (gritty voice) "He came back to our past to save HIS future"

This Is like Timecop ! Swear to god....Its all like Timecop. Didn't they move the US Capitol In that movie as well ? Also he mentions he can visit himself In a timeline 2 or 3 times. That happened In Timecop when Van Damne met himself later , when he had 1st came there. ;)
