plays the movie without going to the menu first or if the menu pops up first?

Menu first.

If I've already seen the film, I'd most probably want to watch the special features.

Menu. The movie plays when I'm ready for it to play, it dont play, unless I say! Okay!

Why don't I go down to the bay...I think I just may!

And eat some hay?

I PREFER menu first. If I throw in the DVD and then go get something to snack on and drink during the movie, I don't want it playing while food is being made.

Exactly.

Now, mind you, I don't want the menu to be some big elaborate show of it's own. Those bore me to tears and make me impatient to just turn the movie on. But, yeah, something to hold up so I can put the DVD on and still make my last preperations before starting it.

I don't mind the menu screen, but what ticks me off is when I have to wait through the warning screens and etc.

When I am not given the option to just skip right to the menu I mean.

Menu first.
What REALLY pisses me off is when a disc has trailers THAT YOU CAN'T EXIT before the menu even comes up.

I prefer the MENU first. But you know what I really hate.? When the MENU has scenes from the movie that spoil stuff. Most times it's just funny lines, but they're not nearly as funny when I hear them later in the context of the film. That pisses me off a great deal.

Menu first, definitely. But it's a pet peeve of mine when I put in the DVD, leave the room, then come back and its started the movie on its own. That's kind of rude!

I'm perfectly fine with the menu and the possibility of tweaking the sound.....BUT, I can really do without the legal bullcrap, on some dvd's you even have to sit out that stupid blabla in 6 languages. And after that comes the age warning with a harsh looking stupid 3d thingie. And inbetween you get the notion of the movie featuring dolby surround or thx or something. And if you really are unlucky you get 3 to 4 trailers even, without the possibility of skipping them, that's the worst, not being able to skip all the blablabla stuff nobody cares about, they should stop that idiocy.............I HATE THAT GARBAGE......but the menu itself is ok. :)

I prefer DVDs that do not make you sit throw the stuff you don't care about. Adverts for other DVDs

Menu.

Not a fan of the locked in trailers, or the long drawn out opening menu that some films unfortunately have.

I agree. A menu should not be a show of it's own. Nor should the menu spoil anything about the movie, whether I have seen the movie or not.
