Not the longest spotlight ever because John Proudstar has such a short history to cover, but still an interesting read. :)

wow. The whole Martynec story was explained in X-Force 72-74. It was Stryfe and Martynec that were responsible for the massacre at Camp Verde. Michael Whitecloud was killed when he tried to tell Warpath and Siryn of Martynec and Stryfe. He had a device implanted in his skull that would detonate if he went public. Warpath was killed by Martynec in X-Force 73, but got better the next issue ;)

He may not have been alive long but the Original Thunderbird is one of my all-time favorite comic characters ever. The moment I saw him topple the buffalo as a kid I fell in love with this character. So badass. I don`t know why Liefeld turned his brother into a big, dumb, big bicepts one-dimensional powerhouse.....after CC and JR did such great work at bringing him in as this vengeful spirit super-fighter way back in the 80s.

Great character. Though the question always remains....... why did the animated version from Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends have the ability to change into a bear? :D

That stuff was incredible.

Yup he did. I think it was a animal totem or just to toss something in. After all, some kids would possibly say. Strength isn't really a power. Give him a animal totem as he's a native american.

Call me crazy, but wouldn't it have made much more sense for a character named Thunderbird to change into something...I don't know...bird-related? (Oh wait, birds can't ZOMG SMASH THINGS, never mind. :p )

Maybe everyone misheard his name as 'Thunderbird', and his heavy accent was really saying 'Thunderbear'. :D

...and into an eagle...and a coyote. I think it was meant to show/represent that all his strenght, agility, senses, etc...that we see him use were drawn from things in nature. It was like a mix of his own abilities, Animal Man and Dani Moonstar`s.
I think Thunderbird 2/Warpath used right, almost like his brother was originaly done would be a great character. (see Giant Size X-Men 3`s short story by Whedon and N. Adams)
