"Hollow Man 2," "Road House 2 -- Last Call" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer 3" are in various stages of development at the studio. It has not been determined whether the projects will be released theatrically or become direct-to-DVD releases.

"Hollow Man 2" revolves around a Seattle detective and a biologist who are on the run from a dangerous invisible assassin gone rogue as well as the government forces that created him. A mid-August start date is scheduled, with Swiss director Claudio Feah at the helm. The 2000 original starred Kevin Bacon who turns invisible and goes mad.

"I Know What You Did Last Summer 3" focuses on new characters who didn't appear in the first two movies, which came out in 1997 and 1998. It revolves around four teens in a Colorado town who are menaced by an assailant a year after a Fourth of July prank turns deadly. A director is expected to be announced shortly, and a late-summer shoot in Utah is planned.

"Road House 2" centers on a graduate student who must run his uncle's bar and fight to maintain control as a local crime boss tries to take it over. Johnathon Schaech has an offer to star, and Scott Ziehl ("Cruel Intentions 3") is in negotiations to direct. An August shoot is being eyed.

These aren't sequels. They are all original stories that vaguely fit into the mold of the originals so they are going to try to package them as sequels in hopes of getting the audience interested in them. Total BS, if you ask me. Like when they ran out of Halloween sequel ideas and took a script for a bad horror movie called Season of the Witch and tried to tell us that the "Halloween" title was for a series of unrelated horror movies. Riiiiiiggggghhhhhtttttt...........

Also currently being filmed are Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3. They're doing them at the same time ala LOTR.

I think I remember John Carpenter saying his original intention was for Halloween to be an anthology like project--not all stories dealing with Michael Myers.

I think I remember John Carpenter saying his original intention was for Halloween to be an anthology like project--not all stories dealing with Michael Myers.
Yes, he fought to do Halloween II in this format, but relented. Honestly, I think if they'd been able to do it from there it would have been easier for people to wrap their minds around and could have worked - the original script for Halloween III by Nigel Kneale (http://www.nigelkneale.cwc.net/Content.htm) is supposed to have been very interesting, but not what the studio was looking for, so Tommy Lee Wallace was forced to try to bump up the obvious thrills and gore by some measure - and been infinitely more interesting than turning a great horror thriller like Halloween into just another endless series of movies regurgitating the same story to dwindling dramatic returns.

That said, I'm not convinced the Hollow Man or Road House are strong candidates to be thematically linked series on their subjects. And I Know What You Did Last Summer suffers from the same flaw as Halloween III, the first sequel directly follows the storyline of the original movie.
