The latest Mark Burnett Reality show involves INXS searching the world for a new lead singer to replace Michael Hutchence.

Its on CBS, and is on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday....

Here is the site (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/rock_star/)

And here is what happens or at least is supposed to happen each episode....

Monday from 9:30 to 10 - contestants are followed around reality style as they attend "Rock Clinics" and have tasks. They then pick songs for the live performance Tuesday...

Tuesday from 10 to 11 - They have a singing competition. At the end of the episode there will be voting from around the world...via the internet and text messaging...

Wednesday from 9:30 to 10 - the results show. The loser is not completely picked from previous nights votes. Those votes determine the bottom group. Then that group has to sing to survive, singing an INXS song. The members of INXS then pick the singer they want to give the boot to.

Yesterday was the first show....where a girl who sung a really bad version of Knocking on Heaven's Door got the boot. So I guess Monday night people can get the boot too. The episode ended with the 14 remaining contestants given a list of 14 songs and they had to decide amongst themselves who gets to sing each song....

So tune in tonight...I'm intrigued as to how this will go...I've always liked INXS and I think replacing Michael will be a hard task but it will be interesting to watch...I am worried that 3 nights a week might be a bit too much to ask for the public to stick with...

Any early favorites?

Sorry, but the contestants they showed in the commercials appeared to have a distinct lack of vocal talent, and it soured me to watching the show.

INXS also hasn't been relevant in years, even when they still had Hutchinson singing before he committed suicide. So this is just a gimmick for the band to once again get some form of fame.

And it will never be INXS without Hutchinson anyway. It'll be some guy trying to sing with the remaining members of INXS.

I am boycotting any reality tv shows from now on. The networks are just hammering the genre into the ground. They also drag crap out if the show is a hit. Instead of stretching 10 mins worth of material into 30 mins they try to pad it into a 2 hour extravaganza. It is really just too much filler with not enough substance for me anyway...

For me I'm gonna watch it tonight and see how they are in full performances before casting a complete judgement.

I will admit that it will be weird without Hutchence....my curiousity is piqued.
I also wonder if the when the ladies sing some of the songs if they'll switch the gender's around....

Without Michael Hutchenson, there is no INXS. The remaining members should have enough balls to form a new band with a new lead singer.

Anyone watching right now? I'm enjoying it...for the most part they are rocking out quite well...

The only one that I feel was really weak to me is Will singing Right Here Right Now.

Jordis' version of Heart Shaped Box was awesome.

Watched it last night because nothing else was on and my siblings and I couldn't agree on a movie. Only found three of them worth being on the show. Brandon, Jordis, and Mig. At least I think those were their names. The guy who acted like Mick Jagger when singing CCR made me want to jump through the screen and squeeze his throat till his eyes bulged.

INXS was washed up before Hutchence offed himself. This show is stupid enough to be on FOX.

Heather - pretty good, locked in on the song well.

Marty - reminds me of Jim Caviezel, but brought good vocals and energy.

Daphna - got a little raspy in her upper register, but she's interesting to watch as she works the stage.

Suzie - vocally thin at times, okay, but doesn't have a chance of winning.

Jordis - liked her performance, her vocals, the whole package (well, maybe not the dreds).

Brandon - owns the stage once again, good vocals, not great.

Mig - wasn't as impressed by his performance as INXS was.

Deanna - this lady is at the head of the pack, she's good good stage presence and a huge voice. Not sure if she's got enough charisma, though.

Will - sucked, and still has a hard time not playing to the ladies up front.

Jessica - got too loose in her upper registers, still playing up the sex card, average in this bunch.

Tara - way too country, way too safe for this competition.

Neal - still channelling Mick Jagger, but has a typical rock voice, but manic enough to be entertaining.

Ty - another powerhouse performance.

JD - redeemed himself rather well, took it up a notch with a new arrangement of his song.

----

Early rankings from me (very good/good/not good enough):

Very good:
Deanna
Jordis
Ty
Brandon

Good:
Marty
Heather
Daphna
JD
Neal
Mig

Not good enough:
Jessica
Tara
Suzie
Will

IN/XS had another lead singer, they've written new songs with the guy. I saw them two years ago. At any point in this show do they mention that guy?

It's not like Hutchence just died.

Isn't TLC also doing a show like this? That at least makes some logical sense since it hasn't been a terribly long (but respectful) amount of time since Lopez was killed.

I really liked hearing suzie sing "Never Tear us apart" last night.

Tara sung much better last night too. I think she got stuck with a song that no one else wanted to do the night before.

I was not surprised that they gave Will the boot. He was too much of a pretty face, with not enough vocal presence. He'd do better on American Idol.
