Thumbing through wizard I noticed in the dvd buzz section this new Crow movie starring Edward Furlong as The Crow and also with David Boreanz and Tara Reid.
Any one see this movie?.If so what did you think of it?

It's alright. If you've watched the rest you might as well check it out, but it's nothing particularly great or memorable.

Was it as good/better than the previous 4?

I don't think it could be much worse.

Interesting...there seems to be no trailers of it anywhere here in the states. Tells me Dimension doesn't have faith in the movie. Hasn't it been on the shelf for a while? At least a year?

that suprises me because the trailer looked really interesting. It's a pity, Crow's an old fav.

There's a previous *four*?! I saw the straight-to-vid one that came out a few years ago with Kirsten Dunst as the girlfriend. That was worse than the second won, which also sucked.
The original at least was a good movie.

I'll second that the first was excellent i thought. the 3rd was the worst, pretty much a shitty remake of the 1st

Well , i just seen this and i have to say that i'm very dissapointed. The story is lame , the directing is weak , all the characters are flat and the scriptwriter should be fired for coming out with the script and its crappy dialogues.
Granted that i have only watched the first 2 crow movies , whoever plays the crow will always be compared to Brandon Lee because he's the only one that does justice to the character. Edward Furlong is no crow , he's just a sprawny little kid who looks like he bit off more than he can chew in this movie. The first movie was cool , the 2nd one i saw was weak but this one - wicked prayer was worse.
With the casts they assembled , it should have been a decent sequel but with the lameass script and story , it was really not to be , not to mention the awful "flashy" directing.
The worse character on show is probably Dennis Hopper who plays this incoherent jive talking pimp who i haven't a clue what's he talking about . David Boreanaz is just basically playing his Angelus character - evil and over the top , Tito Ortiz the former UFC champ is simply wasted here as a whiny henchman who got his ass smoked easily. All the characters are 2 dimensional and flat and i think the only reason u would want to see this movie is because u are a fan of David Boreanaz. Of course , if u want to see Danny Trejo take off his shirt and shaking his manboobs and jumping around like an idiot , by all means , watch this movie. :D

Finally saw the trailer online. Looked VERY underwhelming. No wonder Dimension didn't have it readily available. I'm still seeing it though cause I'm a Crow fan.

Unless I missed it, can anyone post a link to the trailer online?
I've only seen the first 2: the original is one of my favourite movies ever. Brandon Lee would have been a huge star, had he survived; everything was well done, from top to bottom; Michael Wincott really needed more props for what he pulled off as Top Dollar.
The 2nd was a mixed bag; I really liked Mia Kirshner as an adult Sarah, but most of the movie devolved into garishly coloured stupidity. I still don't get why the Deftones were jamming out in a war zone. :p

The problem with part two was that the original version of the movie was TOO dark, or so the studio thought, so they cut away some footage and released a watered down version in its place. This is the version that most people saw and hated and thus the movie bombed. Perhaps it would have bombed either way, but now we'll never know. Oddly enough, the original version of the movie was available on Pay Per View after the theatrical version had its run, but apparantly that was the only place anyone could ever see it, as only the theatrical version has ever been released (I've heard rumors of the original version existing on Region 2 DVDs/PAL VHS in Canada, though).
From everything I've read, the original version of City of Angels sounds pretty good and fills in a lot of holes (like Judah's backstory, for one). The ending even makes sense in that version.

Interesting, though my problems with the 2nd movie were more along the lines of A) a terrible Crow (I know Vincent Perez filled in for Brandon Lee after he died in the 1st, but the man didn't work as a sympathetic character), B) retreads (a lot of reused ideas, like the voodoo practicing Asian chick), C) boring villains (though Iggy Pop was interesting), and D) a too-cheesy vibe (similar to what Batman and Robin did in comparison to Batman Returns).
Wonder if they'll ever do a Crow: City of Angels Extreme release?

Fair enough, although I got the feeling had Brandon lived he'd just be relegated to cameos, as I thought the Crow franchise was *designed* for a new Crow per movie. I could be wrong, though...I'll see if I can find a James O'Barr quote on the matter.

Could be , but any crow that comes after will always be compared to Brandon and frankly so far , none has come close to capturing that gothic feel of the character that Brandon was able to do.

The first one was only okay, if Lee hadn't died I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be the cult favorite it is today. The rest are complete shit.

Really? I thought that was his chance to break out, and although his death added to the mystique of the film, it wasn't the biggest factor.
Personally, I didn't think it needed any sequels to begin with...
