First off, my definition of a sitcom is one that's shot in front of a LIVE studio audience and there are only 3 or 4 basic sets (an apartment, coffee shop, tavern, etc.). Therefore, I don't consider THE SIMPSONS, M.A.S.H. or CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM to be sitcoms.
1) Seinfeld
2) Cheers
3) All In The Family
4) The Mary Tyler Moore Show
5) The Honeymooners
6) The Bob Newhart Show
7) The Cosby Show
8) Friends
9) Frasier
10) Taxi

You are aware that this is what's killing the sitcom? Scrubs, CYE, The Simpsons (when "on form"), Family Guy, Spaced and The Office are some of the best comedys in 10 years, at least.

I hated Lucy! They should have killed her off along with the old bag and that Cuban refugee and just had a show about Fred Mertz, call it Fred's World.
And Dick Van Dyke was mostly good because young MTM was hot.

Ever seen those two shows? Friends had 4 basic sets just for the apartments of the main characters.

Ever seen those two shows? Friends had 4 basic sets just for the apartments of the main characters.
Which four? Because you had the guys' main room, and the girls' main room, and occasionally, if rarely, went into Monica's room or something. Rarely if ever went to Ross' apartment, at least early on when I was still watching.
The truth is, 3-4 sets can be kind of cramped. I mean, while most of the sets were supposed to be in the same house, the Cosby Show had the living room, the kitchen, the master bedroom, a room for each of the kids, Cliff's office, with certain seasons getting a semi-regular set like the rec center. And I don't think anyone would say that the Cosby Show wasn't a sitcom.
And the live studio audience is a bad thing for it to, because I'm pretty sure that makes shows like the Bob Newhart Show not a sitcom. There was a period in the 60s and most of the 70s where shows were taped not live. I believe Happy Days was the first to reverse that.

6. The Cosby Show
7. Cheers

No order except #1
1. Sports Night - I thought this was one of the most intelligent shows in history, the dalogue moevd really quickly and they never once pandered to the lowest common denominator. The oddly placed laugh track also made this show great.
2. Cheers
3. Seinfeld
4. Everybody Loves Raymond
5. The Honeymonners
6. Parker Lewis Can't Lose
7. Andy Richter Controls The Universe
8. Curb Your Enthusiasm

Here's my list:
Seinfeld
All in the Family
M*A*S*H
Cheers
Green Acres
Frasier
Sanford and Son
Good Times
That 70's Show
WKRP in Cincinatti
Seinfeld's the best and the rest are tied for second. I'm with Homer Jay on the definition of sitcoms, else Reno 911, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Simpsons and Ali G. would make the list. Ali G. makes me laugh so hard I almost piss my pants.
Green Acres should get more love, that show is way too much.
