Heya, this is my first post. In a recient free comic book day article, there was a list of the top trades of all time, and included is one entitled "Spider-Man: Nothing Stops the Juggernaut".

I can't seem to find it anywhere and I'm very curious if it's any good. I remember a certain episode of Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends that featured a really campy fight between he and the Juggster.

"You can't stop ME, Spider-Man, but I can stop you..." I beleive he bellowed in an echo. His voice echoed for no reason. It was great.

Anyone remember this episode or know of this trade? The idea of Spidey getting to toss some quips at Juggernaut seems too good to be true.

This was a reprint of Amazing Spider-Man #s 229 and 230, from about 1982. The trade has been out of print for a while, and I don't know how hard or expensive it would be to track down the original issues.

But the story is great. I think a lot of newer spidey fans wouldn't dig it too much, but as far as old school arcs go, it's one of the better ones.

That story is one of several reprints in a hardcover published by Wizard called Spider-Man Masterpiece Edition: The 10 Greatest Spider-Man Stories Ever.

It's a nice compilation, and since it was published late last year (I think in December), you shouldn't have much trouble rounding one up.

Of course, the story is also contained on Marvel's 40 Years of Amazing Spider-Man CD-ROM as well.

Oh, and welcome to CBR, SniktBamfThwip.

Thanks guys! I work at a comic book store and I've been trying to find it for awhile now.

Hah. Anyone remember that episode of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends? It was one where Spider-Man hangs out with the X-Men and Firestar. Battles the Juggernaut in an abandoned construction site.

So good.

I don't remember that particular episode, but from the way you describe it, it sounds as if it might be based on, or at least influenced by, the Spidey/Juggernaut confrontation in ASM #230.

Are any of these issues in the Essentials or Masterworks line?

That was my first exposure to the X-Men. I thought Angel was the coolest superhero ever.

What were the other Spider-man stories from this HC?

And yeah Nothing Stops the Juggernaut is a GREAT Spider-man story, espcially the way Juggy is defeated.

The following issues with Cobra and Hyde (2 comics)
The 4 comics in the Death of Jean Wolfe.
The Kid Who Collected Spider-Man (1 comic)
And the 2 comics with the second appearance of Venom.
+ 2 of Juggy

= 11 (the Kid Who Collected Spider-Man was supposedly a bonus).

The stories are nice, but the book is kinda overpriced (around 30 bucks).

The Kid Who Collected Spider-Man is great.

Sion's list sums it up pretty well. There are also some admitedly cheesy extras included in the HC, such as a two page splash drawn by Finch that has a drawing of every incarnation of Spidey over the last 40 years.

I didn't really think of it as overpriced, though. For $30 (US), you get 11 comics and extras, which sets the individual issue price at less than three dollars an issue, which is what most comics cost nowadays. It's a nice HC package, so the price seemed pretty reasonable, IMO.
