I was stunned when I realised that Britain had won in their Olympic bid and I sat in front of my TV screen for about 4 seconds before it had sunk in that 'tee vinner ezz Lon-Don' rather than 'the winner is Paris'
and I just went nuts.

I can't wait until the Olympics lands on British soil and I'm sure that we Brits will put on THE best games ever.

Congrats...I hope you enjoy them.

I am not bitter at all when I say that you can have the Olympics. I live in New York and I did not want the m at all. All it would have done was made my life a living hell for a fortnight.

The Olympics in NYC would have been an utter disaster. I'm not talking about security either. I am talking from a logistical standpoint. Everything is so scattered about that the entire NY metropolitan area would be inconvenienced.

I hate Mayor Bloomberg so I am glad that he has some egg on his face by failing to win the bid.

Personally I think that London would appreciate it more.

The Olympics can go to hell. It's easy for you to be happy in Scotland you don't have to pay for it.
It makes me sick that it's coming here

So are the olympics scheduled before or after the Aztec apocalypse...?

New York lost! Woohoo!

Funny... a Londoner friend of mine doesn't want it either, much like myself and fellow New Yorkers. Just seems like a big hassle, and there's no real guarantee of getting a worthwhile profit out of it. Plus, in theory the Olympics would have been coming about the same time Freedom Tower would be finishing up (at the rate its going). Not exactly the kind of "attention" NYC probably needs for a good long while.

Now, had they promised to completely redo the subway here...

Oh, thank you thank you thank you. I freaking hate the Olympics, always have, always will, and sure as hell don't want them here. I don't want that stupid West Side stadium, or any other wastes of space & tax dollars. Build something that will help the community.

I'd better stop before I rant further.

I'd rather have the World Cup to be honest.

Damn this is a dull summer without footie.

I know, but it doesn't feel like summer without the annual round of "will Vieira be at Arsenal next summer".

I believe the Juve link was in today's paper.

My bias leads me to focusing on hoping beyond all hope that Shawn Wright-Phillips stays and hoping Stuart Pearce can sign a few folks sometime soon.

And hence you now know where my allegiance lies. City til' I die. :)

I haven't read the papers for a while :p.
That's cool then, with it being Seaman's last team. Wright- Phillips is a great player. I hope he comes to Arsenal, but Wengers policy wouldn't allow it

Jeez... Great news for London... But it seems like Baghdad will get the Olympics before Toronto...

I think Ian would be over the moon if 'Sweep' went to Arsenal, but it's to the lad's credit that he's happy where he is and isn't kicking up a fuss like certain other players for more and more money.

Either that or it's like someone said on the Manchester Evening News website, that his Mrs has told him if he goes to London he can't take his playstation and besides, games are cheaper in Manc ;)

Sweep hehe. That's true, that's something I like about SWP, he just gets on with it. Then you have the other idiots who say that "they're worth it" when they can't except a pay rise that is £5K less than they thought they'd get
His Mrs has got him under manners :)

That's the thing I couldnt understand with Steven Gerrard... youre a millionaire, youre captainj of your boyhood team, you've just won the european championship...does it really matter that you get an extra £10-20k a week?

Exactly, most people would be happy just playing football for a living, but he is living the dream and he stilll isn't happy.
Football is annoying me a lot when it comes to footballers and money
