I was going to buy this until I saw the price. Screw that... That's $133 Australian.

What's wrong with me that I can see no problem with the price?

The original issues can generally be found in dollar bins, often in decent condition. If you're picky and must have high grade comics, the whole set can be eBayed in NM for around $30 (sometimes a bit more, sometimes less...eBay's a fickle beast). Then there's the TPB which can be had easily for under $30.

Maybe the hardcover would be reasonably priced at $50. Maybe the bonus materials and fancy slipcase add another $20 of value. The most I'd say they could go without being crazy is $75, and even that's pushing the boundaries. A hunnerd bucks is just insane.

Edit: And, now that I go and look, I see mailordercomics.com (where I've been getting my comics lately) has it for $65. I assume any of the other decent pre-order services will have similar discounts. Caveat emptor, I suppose, but at $100 you'd definitely be getting screwed.

Heh, you're talking to a guy that paid full price for JLA, All-Star & Legion Archives, The Absolute JLA/Avengers hardcover, the Crisis hardcover, the Kingdom Come hardcover, the LOEG hardcovers and the Bone One Volume hardcover. :)

I dunno, I guess I just see them as durable, stylish collections of stuff that is hard to come by, at least quality-wise, that I can read over and over. To me, they seem to be worth every penny.

Eh, that's how much the first CRISIS hardcover cost.
