I am typing this with a burnt face because of one thing:

I forgot which end the fire comes out of Roman Candles.

Seriously, I lit one. Then I freaked as my brother gave me a million things to do. Then, I did the dumbest thing ever:

I tried to blow it out.

Then...

BAP!

My right cheek got burnt. But no need to go to the hospital.

Any one else who had similar experiences with fireworks?

When I was living in a dorm at I.U., my neighbors and I got extremely drunk one Friday night. Somebody had knocked a cooler over in the hallway, so there was crushed ice all over, when these two really nice potheads down the hall stepped out to get some munchies. We started pelting them with ice, for no other reason than the sheer, stupid joy of it. With nothing to throw back, they ducked into their room...

...and came back out a couple of minutes later shooting a couple of bottle rockets at us!

One went high and passed over us, continuing down the hall, as some of my neighbors dived thru the room doors on either side of us. These dorm doors could be locked/unlocked in such a way that you didn't need the key to lock them, just pull the door shut. Myself and one other guy were still in the hallway, unable to get thru locked doors, when the second bottle rocket landed at my feet. I kicked it under one of the doors, where there was nearly a half inch of clearance. It went off in the room, scaring the hell out of those guys who locked us out.

I was at my cousin's on the 4th lighting fireworks. We lit one of those big spinning things called a b-52 bomber or somesuch, which never went off. So, my cousin kicked it into the field for fun. Later, I was wandering through the field with a lit sparkler, which set the damn thing off right under my feet. I ran, and the thing halfway chased me. Got 1st and 2nd degree burns all over my legs from that.

Rule of thumb: Cold, numb hands make fireworks going off early much more painful.
