Bratwurst always rules.

And this is the microbrew capital of the country and one of the places that makes hefeweizen, a wheat beer, teamed up with a bakery, to make a hot dog type bun out of the leftover wheat or whatever so it tastes like the beer and ..... Add some grilled onions and something worth celebrating right there.

Can I come over?

I'll do the dishes.

I am going to bbq me up some fabulous t-bone steaks and probably some bratwurst. Then tell my vegan friend ALL about how fabulous it was, so she could try to kill me or something. It will be a fantastic evening.

I don't know if we are doing anything at all for the actual fourth of July.

We got invited to our neighbors across the street tonight for a small cookout, but I think that's going to be the extent of any "celebration" we do.

My mom is going to a bridal shower with my sister tomorrow and with my dad not exactly feeling up to par, it won't be a big cookout holiday for us.

They are a bit time consuming to prepare, but sooooo good.
Put whatever you want on em and grill em up.

Perfection.

I have to work, so I probably won't be grilling anything.

But I may make some crepe suzette with croissants and a good Bordeaux.

Salmon steaks sound good. Do you make sandwiches with them? If yes, what do you add on to it? One thing I learned about salmon steaks is that they need sauce; the one I usually see on Food TV is a dill one.

An apricot bbq glaze is REALLY good too. And if they're grilled right (ie, stay moist), they don't really need sauce afterwards. At least the pacific kind doesn't. A really good alternative to dill, however, is gribiche:

1/2 cup bottled mayonnaise
1/2 cup plain yogurt
3 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickle
3 tablespoons minced shallot
3 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves
2 tablespoons chopped drained bottled capers
1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme leaves plus a thyme sprig for garnish
1 hard-boiled large egg, chopped fine

In a bowl stir together the mayonnaise, the yogurt, the pickle, the shallot, the parsley, the capers, the minced thyme, the egg, and pepper to taste and garnish the sauce with thyme sprig. Serve the sauce with fish or shellfish.

Makes about 1 1/2 cups.

It's kind of like a high-end tartar sauce. Most really more like potato salad without the potato and with capers.

I have to go to my cousin's wedding in August, and the bride and groom are vegetarian....thankfully Chicken Cordon Blue and Prime Rib are the main meals being offered or otherwise I'd be bringing my own damn food.

My wife is the one that I cook it for, and she just prefers garlic & olive oil. I make a little boat out of tin foil with the steak (skin DOWN if there is any), olive oil, and garlic in it. I put it on the top rack on medium heat and cook it until the white goo begins seeping out of the top and the steak is orange & flaky.
