What mellows you out?

For me, I mellow out to a lot of 90's alternative rock for some reason.

Looking at the sunrise at day break, when it's all quiet.
Hearing some music by a wintery band ( a band that is good for sitting in the park on a wimters day and listening to on your walkman)
Loadsa stuff, but those stick out. And chatting to Nila

It's just not very poetic and stuff.

Truesay, looking at a night sky that is all clear and it feels like you and nowt else. Then you think about all the shit we do to the world and it makes yuo feel sad inside

It's just not very poetic and stuff.

If that's what makes someone feel humble then it's there choice ain't it, was there anything about being poetic

Sometimes reading comics does it. In fact, that's what I do every night before I go to sleep.

Maybe poetic isn't quite the word. But I'm being serious here. I've always felt somewhat defective that I can't get peace and inspiration from nature. With the exception of the ocean, but that's more energizing than mellowing.

Yeah, but some would say that listening to a heavy rock band isn't all that poetic.
Don't feel defective, that's your way. If everyone put the cliche stuff then it'd be pretty lame and making this thread irrelevent. If it's your way it's your way
Hell having a bit of rum in me on a cold day mellows me out a bit

Heh. This is true. (http://www.rjgeib.com/thoughts/writer/writer.html)

Hm. The best mellowing for me is silence. If I can just get away from noise- traffic, people talking, televisions, etc, then I can usually find a peaceful mood within myself.

Either sitting at my favorite cafe, listening to music...or reading comics, while listening to music.

Either way, music is involved

Lexapro, sex, and ambient techno. Unfortunately, the first two are somewhat mutually exclusive.

Oh, and lying on my back and tossing a ball up and down repetitively helps, too.

A special kind of music and long bus rides on half-empty buses (which is this case means a glass half-full, if that makes any sense).

Hm. The best mellowing for me is silence. If I can just get away from noise- traffic, people talking, televisions, etc, then I can usually find a peaceful mood within myself.

Yep. Bukowski is a hero of mine. I LOVED that link.

One of my fave movies was Barfly...but I havent seen it in maybe 12 years. Really loved "Ham on Rye". Never finished "Hollywood" cuz it just depressed me too much. Of course, that was way before I actually moved to this crazy town. Perhaps I need to pick up that book again.

For relaxing, I used to love that GOLDEN HOUR after the sun goes down before the starry cover of night has taken hold of the sky. I miss that now that I have a horrible job that deprives me of those hours.

But I still make an effort to pause when Im walking at night and search for our constant companion the moon. That silent friend that is the common sight seen by all humans on this ever changing planet. I think thats why we have such a romantic view of it. It inspires poetry and wonder as we experience multiple incarnations on this planet. The one shared experience that links us all together is the white orb that lights up the night. Ya cant stare and wonder about the sun, it's too bright to look at. You just always know its there in the periphery of your vision.

SO I always talk to the moon, it makes me calm and brings a sense of peace. I talk to it like it's God. I have a secret name for it. Just for me. When I see it, I take a moment to reflect on the magic of this universe and reality. No matter what crazy circumstances life throws at you in the drama of existence, I like to reflect on the bigger picture and the miracle of awareness and consciousness and operating a physical body through this earthly landscape.

Plus I love to just get in my car and drive. Not trying to get somewhere, just enjoying the experience of driving. Took a three hour drive tonight through Hollywood and the Hollywood hills just by myself. Went and bought comics at Meltdown on Sunset at 9:30 at night. Now I have comics to read.

Life is GREAT.

Sorry for rambling!~~~Patrick
