Haven't read JSA in a while. But I think he still is.

Not currently. He was but he left after Jay started muttering about a 20-something dating a 16 year old and he knew telling the whole JSA about his secret identity's age wouldn't be good.

He's rejoining soon, though.

ah, so captain marvel used to be a regular. gotta track down those issues.

also this site (http://www.marvelfamily.com/comics/titles/issueinfo.asp?title=JSA&Issue=73) mentions captain marvel returning to the JSA issue #73. i hope it's as a regular so i can have a monthly series to read captain marvel in. :D

cap marv played a big role in the stealing thunder story (in the 40's). he was also around for princes of darkness and left shortly after the first kandaq story.

Ah okay , u should give him the issue numbers to be specific. ;) :D

I think Captain Marvel should be made a full time member of the JSA , since he doesn't have a current book and there can never be enough powerhouses in the JSA. :D

i used to be a big fan of cap marvel being full time in jsa. i think at least for the short term, he'll probably be around through the infinite crisis mega slated for later this year (black adam is on the secret society of super villians, is about to take on superman raising his profile). i'd prefer he have his own book and be an as-needed jsa'er. personally i think you can have too many powerhouses and either have to always be fighting a mega villian or go with the "heroes a, b, c only are part of this adventure". (to me it was overkill when cap, black adam and power girl were all active).

as for the older jsa cap appearances, since everything under the sun is collected to trade these days, story name is probably more important than titles numbers.

return of hawkman (circa 22 - 25) - cap, hawkgirl, mr terrific go back and time and hawkman gets revived.

stealing thunder (mid 40's) - cap marvel is part of hero team to save the day. he even gets the "hero loses innocence" during the story climax. ask if ya wanna know what that statement meant.

princes of darkness (late 40's thru about 52)- cap is in this, but not as prominent. old school jsa'ers take center stage here.

black reign (i think the late 50's) - black adam takes over country of kandaq, keeps billy baston captive and actually breaks his jaw in anger. adam vs cap doesn't really happen in this story despite all of this. adam does make a joke of the rest of the jsa, however.

[gap btwn hawkman and stealing thunder - cap was on the team during this time but i don't remember any prominent storylines involving him]

also,

the jla story crisis times five, taking place during jla 30 something i think, has cap marvel playing an important role. story is about rogue johnny thunder t-bolts from the fifth dimension. cap sucker punches out superman so that he could take supes place in traveling to the fifth dimension (cap's theory being that superman is too necessary to the dcu to risk getting trapped). i'm not sure if cap was active jsa at the time, it may have been right before.

Good call on that recommendation.

The JSA, by the way, wasn't formed as the team that we know until after that story arc. It was in light of those events that the JSA decided to reform.

I also think Captain Marvel should be a permanent member of the team. I think it was because of Black Adam's departure though, because it was really him who I wanted to see interact with the do-gooders, particularly since he's a reformed villain.

Read JSA! :D

I don't like Cap on the team, because he's such a gun. With Green Lantern, Dr. Fate, and the T-bolt, we have enough dues ex machinas as it is already.

That being said, here is the Cap JSA rundown:

#26-27

#32-37, 40-54, 57-59, 73-

Plus, JSA/JLA SFO #1 and JSA/JLA Virtue and Vice
