I really enjoy Steven "How to write comics" series and have learned much.
I have written the first two issues of an original story and would like to submit it but the only place I can find that takes writers submissions with no artist is Dark Horse. They ask for a synopsis and claim it is the most important part of the submission.
Would the synopsis be the same as a pitch? If not, how do they differ. I like what I have written but feel fairly lost when it comes to a synopsis. Thanks

They're sort of the same thing, and at some companies they are the same thing, but where they differ is a pitch is really a come-on for the series, an elaborate advertisement, and a synopsis is a very concise summary of the characters, premise, hooks, action and resolution. What Dark Horse would be looking for is a summation of the story and character arcs AND an explanation of why they should be interested and why anyone else would be. It's one of the more difficult things to do well.

And, at least in my own highly limited experience, sometimes a brief pitch can result in a request for a synopsis.
