My favorite song from a film or play soundtrack would be "I Don't Care Much", sung by Alan Cumming from the Broadway revival version of Cabaret.

Alan Cumming sang it with such bitterness in his voice. It was different from all his other songs in the play because all the others were mostly fun and happy.

So what's your fav song from a movie or play?

I love the entire soundtrack to Les Miserables. Especially "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables."

Well, yeah, it's either that or "Raindrops keep falling on my head", really...

Probably "Don't You Forget About Me" from The Breakfast Club or "Moon River" from Breakfast at Tiffany's. I'm such a sap.

How about the entirety of Obscured by Clouds by Pink Floyd?

But if we're gonna go with just a song, without a doubt, it's "Nothin' Matters Now" by Destineal for Tommy Wright III's Behind Closed Doors movie.

I would either say for a musical anything in Jesus Christ Superstar or Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Hedwig my favorite is probably "The Origin of Love"
JCS is probably "Heaven On Their Mind's"

As far as memorable I enjoyed the use of Oasis' "F'ing In The Bushes" in the one fight scene in Snatch.

Les Miserables is amazing, may parents bought it after seeing it in NYC so i knew all of the songs before I even saw it.

I am a huge fan of Rent, I bought the cast recording at intermission when I saw it.

I love the entire orchestral score for Forrest Gump and the Jazz soundtrack from Romeo Is Bleeding.
The music in most of Tarantino's films is great, and very well placed, in the films' context.
As for particular melodies,I like Paula, from the short-lived Broadway musical version of The Goodbye Girl.

Bob Fosse/Roy Schneider's version of 'bye bye love' from the end of 'all that jazz' is awesome:

Everything from all of the Rocky movies, Back to the Future movies, Transformers animated movie, Titan AI, South Park movie, Team America, Princess Bride, and Dogma, plus the Superman theme, Star Wars themes, Indiana Jones theme, Star Trek Klingon music, Jaws music, main riff from Pirates of the Carribean, Don Quiote from Man of La Mancha and some Disney animated stuff (including Pixar)...also Muppets. Also the yodeling song from Sound of Music and a couple things from Free Enterprise, Karate Kid, Teen Wolf, Nightmare Before Xmas...and some more I'll think of later, I'm sure.

I love the entire soundtrack to Les Miserables. Especially "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables."

I liked Master of the House.

"Raindrops keep falling on my head"

Probably "Don't You Forget About Me" from The Breakfast Club

Favourite: Cars -- "Moving in Stereo" (Fast Times @ Ridgemont High), but it's more for the memory than the song

Runners up:
Bill Conti -- "Rocky's Theme" (Rocky)
Harry Belafonte -- "Jump in the Line" (Beetlejuice)
Queen -- "Flash" (Flash Gordon)
Aerosmith -- "Come Together" (Sgt. Pepper's)

"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" by Santa Esmerelda.
It's taken from the soundtrack to "Kill Bill Volume One" and is the track playing in the background when Beatrice Kiddoe fights O-Ren-Ishii.

There was a time in my life when I could not get enough of the Judgement Night soundtrack. I have no idea if it still holds up.

I quoted the title song from the 'O Lucky Man' soundtrack in my college yearbook, next to my photo.

There are a lot of gems on the "Grace of my Heart" Soundtrack. I really wish they'd included the Kristen Vigard version of "God give me strength" as well as the Bacharach/Costello one. Her "A boat on the sea" is also awesome on that OST.

I found the soundtrack to the first Crow movie was not only quite good, but also suited the movie's theme/atmosphere.

And while I hated the movie and the rest of the soundtrack, Can't You Trip Like I do by Filter and the Crystal Method is a tune I still love to crank up.
