As much as I hate to slam Golden Age DC, I can't resist including Tex Thompson - Mister America, who later changed his name to the almost laughable Americommando.
Apparently, he was in charge of guarding sewage treatment facilities during WW2. Some emergencies were so bad, that they would occasionally interrupt his golf game.

"Through the night, a powerful figure patrols the highways and byways of industry."
"It is Mr America, arch-enemy of those who would do his country and her industries harm."
Holy Moley, Mr America is George Bush!!!!

You only say that because you don't live near a sewage treatment plant that has been targeted by saboteurs. It's a shitty situation to be in.

How about the Outsiders villains, the Force of July? When you've got a team whose name contains a lame pun, you know they're going to be bad.
Americommando.
Republicannon was so much better then Americommando.

The all-time nadir has to be "Reagan's Raiders", in which President Reagan and his cabinet carry out commando missions, all bulging with muscles and toting huge Liefeld-esque guns.
