Don't know if anybody saw this on All the Rage:

http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/rage/index1.htm

Short version is Val Staples has been going above and beyond, selling his personal items in order to raise money to pay back creators owed money. Truly a good guy, and worthy of our support ... unlike another certain ex-publisher who stiffed everybody and walked blithely away, still living a luxurious lifestyle. Val's a class act.

Hey, thanks Ron! :)
I didn't even see this post before.
That means a whole lot coming from a creator of your talent and status.

Per the latest LITG column from Rich, we have taken care of all invoiced debt with the exception of one artist who is a friend of mine. He and I have details worked out and that debt will be gone as well by the end of the year.

And thanks to Rich's column, one artist who never invoiced us who I wasn't aware of contacted me.
And I'll have him taken care of very soon as well.

Pat Boutin contacted me too, and his funds are going out the door today.
I hope EJ and Andrew are soon to follow.
I have their funds waiting for them.

It's a good feelin' to finally get people paid up. :)
Shame I'll never get that CG money, though. :(
But that's the risk you take when you do business.

Good news.

It's always good when a company you think is gone comes back into the industry.

Hope you guys have better luck than before.

Val, you are an inspiration and a personal hero of mine. Using CrossGen as a valid excuse for not being able to pay your employees you could have just walked away by declaring bankruptcy and moved on to other business opportunities like various other people in your position have done over the past few years. Instead you have made many personal sacrifices and worked very hard to repay people for the simple reason that its the right thing to do as there is no financial benefit to do so given the current state of MVC. I solute you and am sorry that there incidents beyond your control led to your company having to close it doors. I wish you the very best in whatever you are doing right now.

Hey Val, remember me? I was the guy who pitched the two He-Man, multi-dimensional crossover ending for the book.

Too bad what happened, you are a great guy for doing all this for people who worked with you. My hat is off to you.

A lot of people wonder how something like this happens, but based on what you told me, how crippled you were creatively with He-Man, it is a wonder anyone can pull of a license that is held so tightly by the corporate masters.

I don't remember that, sorry. :(
We never accepted outside story pitches for the comic, and we got a lot of them.
We had a specific game plan in mind with the story, trying to weave classic elements in with the new story while playing hop scotch with the upcoming plot points created by Mattel that only we knew about.
Never really succeeded, but we tried. :)

Thank you for the kind words!!!

Yeah, Val, it is admirable how you're approaching this.

Keep up the good work!

And I enjoyed your coloring on Deadly Genesis!
